The Midrash of Jacob’s Sticks

I am sure all of you are familiar with the prophecy of the reunion of the Two Houses of Judah as pictured by the union of the two sticks in Ezekiel 37.  What many of you may not know, is that there is a closely related story preserved in the midrash.

According to the midrash, from his deathbed Ya’kov called his twelve sons to him asking them each to bring a stick. When they had come to him Ya’akov asked his sons to tie all the sticks in a bundle. Then he asked them to each try to break the bundle of sticks. Having passed the bundle around they each failed to break it. Then Ya’akov told them to loose the bundle, pass the individual sticks around, and attempt to break them individually. This time they all were successful.

I want to thank each of you for your continued support of the work of Worldwide. We are producing scriptural and historical information that helps people better understand the Scriptures. You who send us contributions, tithes and offerings are those who make it possible for us to do the job of getting out the truth. Thank you for allowing us (all of us together) to do our Father’s business. This is the time to help the lost of this world with the real truth.
