How to Celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles?

How to Celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles?
By
Rabbi Robert. O. Miller

“Yahweh had made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians. The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Sukkot. (Exodus 12:36)”

How do the Jews celebrate Sukkot? Since the dawn of time, people of every culture have gathered to celebrate the harvest, give thanks for the earth’s bounty and prepare for winter.  To most Jews Sukkot is the Hebrew version of this universal festival. They also believe It honors the Children of Israel who lived in temporary shelters as they wandered the desert for 40 years, waiting to receive the 10 Commandments and to enter the Promised Land.

They celebrate by building a sukah the day after Yom Kippur, ideally outside in your backyard.  The festival itself starts 4 days after the Day of Atonement. Their sukah resembles the shanties of Eatern Europe, a simple four-sided framework of wooden strips and decorate it with paper garlands, colorful paper cutouts, swaths of cloth and hanging fruits and vegetables. Lay tree branches or straw across the top to form the roof. Arrange them loosely so the moon and stars can shine through.  They Eat dinner in their sukah every night of the 8-day festival; some also sleep in it, but that is not a must.

On the first and eighth day they meet at the synagogue for a special service.  The four species are waved in the synagogue as part of the service during the holiday of Sukkot. Traditionally, they are not waved on Sabbath because bringing these items to the synagogue would violate the prohibition against carrying.

How do the Netzarim customs differ from our Jewish brethren?  I believe that can best be summed up in answer to the question, “Why did Yahweh direct the Children of Israel to Sukkot as soon as they left Egypt?” Sukkot was literally a portable city of tents hence the name.  I believe the reason the Children of Israel was brought to Sukkot was because the Children of Israel had lived 400 plus years in the limestone buildings of Egypt and they had forgotten how to live in tents. The people of Sukkot furnished both tents and the know how for the Children of Israel.   Yahweh knew they would be traveling for 40 years and they would need to know how to live in tents. The people

How’s that relate to us?  Well, as a people we do not know how to live in tents. So, once a year Yahweh commands us to learn how to live in tents.

“For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers (Children of Israel) were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all immersed into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Messiah. Nevertheless, Elohim was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert. Now these things occurred as examples…Now all these things happened unto them as examples and they are written for our  admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come (1 Corinthians 10:1-6, 11).”

Everything the Children of Israel went through was chronicled for us, the potential Second Exodus Generation, so that we would not make the same mistakes as they did. We will need to know how to live in tents during the SECOND EXODUS.  Allow me to give scriptural proofs of why I believe there will be a SECOND EXODUS, even Greater than the FIRST EXODUS:

Jeremiah 51:6-9,13; Mathew 24:16; Revelations 12:15,16; I Corinthians 10:11; Revelations 12:6; Micah 7:15; Hosea 2:1 & 15; Zechariah 2, 9, 10; Amos 9:11  Joel 2:28-31; Ezekiel 34:13 -25; Jeremiah 23:3,6 and John 10:16.

We have been told to “come out of Babylon” before its destruction.  Whether we realize it or not our hearts, soul and mind are already in the midst of the SECOND EXODUS.

    All our prophets speak consistently about the Ingathering of Yahweh people in the End-Time. Deuteronomy 32:21 Ezekiel 20:34; 34:11; 37:21; Jeremiah 23:3; Isaiah 11:11; 35:8; 65: 1I; Micah 2:12; Zephaniah 3:12; John 10:16; 1Peter 2:9,10.

    A 2nd Exodus brings about this Ingathering. Jeremiah 23:3,6; 51:6-9,13; Ezekiel 34:13 –25; Hosea 2:1 & 15; Zechariah 2, 9, 10; Micah 7:15; Amos 9:11; Joel 2:28-31 Mathew 24:16; John 10:16 I Corinthians 10:11; Revelations 12: 6,15,16

“Then if anyone says to you, “Look, here is the Messiah!’ or “There!’ do not believe it.  For false messiahs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.  See, I have told you beforehand.  Therefore if they say to you, “Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or “Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.  For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. (Matthew 24:23-27)”

At this point Israel and the righteous Gentiles must decide which side they are on. (Amos 5:4-15)

“For behold, Yahweh will come with fire and with His chariots, like a whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by His sword Yahweh will judge all flesh; and the slain of Yahweh shall be many.

Those who set themselves apart and purify themselves, to go to the gardens after an idol in the midst, eating swine’s flesh and the abomination (food offered to the Golem) and the mouse, shall be consumed together,” says Yahweh .

For I know their works and their thoughts. It shall be that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come and see My glory.  I will set a sign among them; and those among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish and Put (Jeremiah 46:9) and Lud, who draw the bow, and Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. And they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles.  Then they shall bring all your brethren for an offering to Yahweh out of all nations, on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says Yahweh , “as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of Yahweh .  And I will also take some of them for priests and Levites,” says Yahweh . (Isaiah 66:15-21)”

As we gather in the Valley of Achor Yahweh betroths us.

“For Thy Maker is thine husband, Yahweh of Hosts is his name, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of (spiritual) Israel, the Elohim of the whole Earth shall He be called (Isa. 55: 5)

Hosea said  “Therefore I will allure her and bring her into the WILDERNESS, and speak comfortably unto her will give her vineyards from there, and the VALLEY OF ACHOR as a door of hope; and she shall sing there as in the days of her youth and AS IN THE DAY WHEN SHE CAME UP OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT. And it shall be, in that day,” says Yahweh , “That you will call Me “My Husband,’and no longer call Me “My Master,’” Hosea 2:14-16 written in 785 BCE for the End-Time. “I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. (Hosea 2:19)”

“…just as Messiah also loved the Assembly and gave Himself up for her; that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the Assembly in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and blameless. (Eph. 5:25-27)”

“For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, that to Messiah I might present you as a pure virgin. (2 Cor. 11:2)”

The prophet Isaiah said. “And He (Yahweh ) shall set up an ensign for the nations and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel (10 tribes and their companions) and GATHER together the dispersed of Judah (the Jews and their companions) from the four corners of the Earth. (from all over the world)….And they shall spoil them of the East TOGETHER, they shall lay their hand upon EDOM and MOAB and the children of Ammon (Jordan) shall obey them.

And Yahweh shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian Sea and with his mighty wind shall He shake his Hand over the RIVER and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod…And there shall be an HIGHWAY for the Remnant of his people which shall be left, from Assyria, like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. (Isaiah 11: 12-16)

We will be headed down a highway along the mountain tops of MOAB and EDOM, following the same exact path as our forefathers.

And along the way there shall be battles, the biggest of which will be at the entrance of Bozrah (Petra) in Idumea (Edom, Southern Jordan). We fight exactly as described in the Dead Sea Scrolls according to the “War of the Sons of Light and the Sons of Darkness.”

“Come near, you nations, to hear; and heed, you people! Let the earth hear, and all that is in it, the world and all things that come forth from it…For My sword shall be bathed in heaven; indeed it shall come down on Edom, and on the people of My curse, for judgment. The sword of Yahweh is filled with blood; it is made overflowing with fatness, with the blood of lambs (martyrs) and goats (heathen), with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For Yahweh has a sacrifice in Bozrah (Petra), and a great slaughter in the land of Edom. (Isaiah 34:1,5,6)”

“The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, and the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of Yahweh , the Excellency of our Elohim. Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your Elohim will come with vengeance, with the recompense of Elohim; He will come and save you.”  Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water; in the habitation of jackals, where each lay, there shall be grass with reeds and rushes. A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray. (Isaiah 35:1-8)”

“When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the spirits of those who had been slain for the word of Yahweh and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed. (Revelation 6:9-11)”

“Oh that I had in the WILDERNESS, a lodging place of WAYFARING MEN (and WOMEN.. Jeremiah 9:2).

“…the woman (the bride, the Commonwealth of Israel, the called out ones) fled into the WILDERNESS, where she hath a place prepared of Yahweh that they should feed her there (literally) a thousand two hundred and three score days (3 ½ years or half of 7 years, that’s the same period of time as the 42 months of the holy city, Jerusalem, being trampled under foot and that the two witnesses minister) (Revelations 12:6)

“…unless those days were shortened (by 3 ½ years), no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. (Matthew 24:22)”

The Bride of Messiah flees from the serpent, the great red dragon, also called the Devil by going into the wilderness where we have ‘ a place prepared of Yahweh , that they (the angels) will feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days’ (1260 days = 42 months = 3 and ½ years) (Revelation 12: 6, 14).

“…the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of Yahweh and have the testimony of Messiah YahShua. (Revelation 12:14-17)”

“For thy shall not hunger nor thirst: neither shall the heat nor sun smite them (because Yahwehs cloud shall be over us once again) for He (Yahweh ) that hath MERCY on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall He guide them. (Psalm 23)  And I (Yahweh ) will make all my mountains a Way, and my HIGHWAY shall be exalted. (Isaiah 49: 10,11)”

And as Micah in 710 BCE so apply stated, “According to the DAYS (or pattern) of thy coming out of Egypt will I show unto him marvelous things. The nations shall be confused at all their MIGHT. (For we shall be powerfull in Yahweh ), they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf…..they shall be AFRAID of Yahweh our Elohim (they will convert from Islam to Judaism), and shall fear because of Him. (Micah 7: 15, 16)

How are we to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles?

“Yahweh said to Moses, ‘Say to the Israelites: ‘”On the fifteenth day of the seventh month Yahweh’s Feast of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days. The first day is a sacred assembly; do no regular work. For seven days present offerings made to Yahweh by fire, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present an offering made to Yahweh by fire. It is the closing assembly; do no regular work…Live in tents for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in tents so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in tents when I brought them out of Egypt. I am Yahweh your Elohim.’ “(Leviticus 23:33-36, 42, 43)”

“On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. Celebrate a festival to Yahweh for seven days. Present an offering made by fire as an aroma pleasing to Yahweh…(Numbers 29:12, 13)”

    (1) On the 15th of Tishri we come together in a worship service and worship.  The first day is a Sabbath – we do no work.

    (2) For seven days we offer incense to Yahweh.

    (3) For seven days we live in tabernacles or tents.

    (4) On the eighth day we come together in a worship service and worship.  The first day is a Sabbath – we do no work.

“After the harvest from your threshing floor and your vineyards, you shall celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days. (Deuteronomy 16:13)”

Sukkot is known as hag-ha-asif, the Festival of Ingathering. The Torah says:

“You shall celebrate the Festival of Ingathering, at the end of the year, when you gather in your labors out of the field. (Exodus 23:16)”

Since Sukkot is a harvest festival, we celebrate by also waving something called a “lulav” and “etrog.” The commandment regarding the four species is found in the Torah. After discussing the week-long Sukkot  festival, specific instructions for how to celebrate the holiday are given. Leviticus 23:40 instructs: “On the first day you shall take the product of hadar trees, branches of palm trees, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before Yahweh  your Elohim seven days.” These are the four species that form the lulav and etrog.  The four species are waved before Yahweh each evening.

Sukkot was actually referred to as ha-chag, the festival, (Kings 12:32).  King Solomon chose Sukkot as the holiday during which he consecrated the Holy Temple. It was also the occasion every seven years for the ceremony hak’heil, the public reading of the Torah before the whole people (Deuteronomy 31:10-13). Sukkot is also said to be the festival of the future, when in the messianic period, all nations will come to Jerusalem and celebrate.

“And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, Yahweh of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, Yahweh of hosts, on them there will be no rain. If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which Yahweh strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. (Zechariah 14:16-19)”

King Messiah YahShua kept the Feast of Tabernacles. This is discussed in detail in John chapter 7:10-26: “But when His brothers had gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. Then the Jews sought Him at the feast, and said, “Where is He?” And there was much complaining among the people concerning Him. Some said, “He is good”; others said, “No, on the contrary, He deceives the people.” However, no one spoke openly of Him for fear of the Jews. Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught. And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”  Rebbe YahShua answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from Yahweh or whether I speak on My own authority. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him. Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill Me?” The people answered and said, “You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?” Rebbe YahShua answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you all marvel. Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” Now some of them from Jerusalem said, “Is this not He whom they seek to kill? But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is truly the Messiah?”

Rabbi Sha’ul even after the Messiah’s death and resurrection indicated that it was important to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. As it is noted in Acts 18:21: “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem; but I will return again to you, Yahweh willing.”

We believe that the Sukkoth shows the righteous one-thousand-year reign of our soon-coming King YahShua, Zechariah 14:16. A time of peace, prosperity and happiness shall prevail when YahShua rules, putting into effect the laws of His Father Yahweh, which are especially studied during the Sukkoth, showing our faith in Yahweh’s eventual sovereignty over the entire earth. A commanded Assembly where Yahweh has placed His name, Sukkoth is observed seven days starting on the 15th day of the seventh month (Tishri 15 through 21), the first day is the sixth Annual Sabbath, Leviticus 23:34-36, and 43; Numbers 29:12. The Feast of Tabernacles lasts seven days, plus the Last Great Day, which YahShua the Messiah observed, John 7:37, making it an eight-day celebration.

I hope this answers your questions.

Codification of Yeshua’s Halachot

Shalom Chaverim,

I wanted to give you all an update on my work on a codification of Nazarene Halachot under the title HaDerek Laleket הַדֶּרֶךְ לָלֶכֶת (The Way to Walk).

I have completed the opening section, Part I which presents the “Middot” “principles” of Yeshua’s halachot. The purpose of this opening section, is to explore the principles Yeshua used in presenting those halachic issues which he specifically addresses in the Ketuvim Netzarim, so that we can apply these same principles to matters of halacha which he did not directly address.

In Part II I will present the halacha that Yeshua actually addressed, as well as that addressed by the Emissaries, and explore them in light of these principles. I will also address other matters of halacha necessary for a Torah Observant community to function, which were not specifically addressed by Yeshua or his Emissaries, by applying these same principles. (this part of the work may take months or years to complete.)

I invite you all to read Part I and explore the Middot which I have derived from Yeshua’s teachings, that can now be applied to developing and codifying a complete Nazarene Halacha.

The Armor of Elohim and the Four Labors of Wisdom

The Armor of Elohim
and the
Four Labors of Wisdom
By
James Scott Trimm

In this article things will really start coming together and two lines of articles I have written in the past will finally converge.

The first is a series of past articles on the Full Armor of Elohim:

Are You Naked? The Full Armor of Elohim
Moses and the Armor of Elohim
The Full Armor of Elohim

The other is a series of recent articles on the Four Labors of Wisdom:

Storing up Treasure in Heaven: The Four Labors of Wisdom
And a River Went Out of Eden: Philo’s Midrash on the Four Labors of Wisdom

Today’s article will bring this altogether and demonstrate that there is a direct relationship between the Full Armor of Elohim and the Four Labors of Wisdom.

In our previous articles we cited the following passage from The Wisdom of Solomon concerning the “Four Labors of Wisdom” also known as the “Four Virtues”:

5  If riches are a desirable possession in life,
what is richer than wisdom who effects all things?
6  And if understanding is effective,
who more than she is fashioner of what exists?
7  And if any one loves righteousness,
her labors are virtues;
for she teaches self-control and prudence,
justice and courage;
nothing in life is more profitable for men than these.
(Wisdom of Solomon 8:5-7 RSV)

In another article we learned about Philo’s Midrash on Genesis 2:10 which teaches that generic virtue goes out as an unceasing and everlasting flow from the Word (logos) of Elohim to increase and nourish specific virtues in the souls of those that love Elohim and that from there generic virtue is marked off by fixed boundaries as prudence (rational judgment), courage, self-control, and justice and that each of these is a ruler and a queen that helps us to rule over our passions.

The Fourth Book of Maccabees (which has sometimes been titled “On the Supremacy of Reason) we learn much more about these four Labors of Wisdom, or “virtues” which 4Maccabees calls “Four Kinds of Wisdom”:

Now the kinds of wisdom are rational judgment, justice, courage, and self-control.
(4Macc. 1:18)

4Maccabees goes on to say:

Rational judgment is supreme over all of these, since by means of it reason (Logos) rules over the emotions.
(4Macc. 1:19)

This agrees with Philo’s midrash on Gen. 2:10 that generic virtue goes out as an unceasing and everlasting flow from the Word (logos) of Elohim to increase and nourish the Four Virtues in our souls.

4 Maccabees gives us a working definition of “reason” (Logos):

Now reason (Logos) is the mind that with sound logic prefers the life of wisdom.
(4Macc. 1:15)

Followed by a working definition for “wisdom”:

16  Wisdom, next, is the knowledge of divine and human matters and the causes of these.
17 This, in turn, is education in the Torah, by which we learn divine matters reverently and human affairs to our advantage.
(4Macc. 1:16-17)

Thus learning Torah brings wisdom and living Torah produces a “life of wisdom” which is the kind of life preferred by “the mind with sound logic” and this sound logic of Torah is the Logos (Word, Reason).  This is stated more plainly later in the book:

21 Now when Elohim fashioned man, he planted in him emotions and inclinations,
22 but at the same time he enthroned the mind among the senses as a sacred governor over them all.
23 To the mind he gave the Torah; and one who lives subject to this will rule a kingdom that is temperate, just, good, and courageous.
(4Macc. 2:21-23)

4Maccabees Chapters 5-7 cites the story of Eliezer (2Macc. 6:18-31) to illustrate this concept, saying:

“No city besieged with many ingenious war machines has ever held out as did that most holy man. Although his sacred life was consumed by tortures and racks, he conquered the besiegers with the shield of his devout reason (Logos).”
(4Macc. 7:4 RSV)

The Aramaic version reads:

No city besieged ever held out against mighty vassals coming against its walls and its various parts like this. He was dressed in all the armor. For while his soul was suffering, consumed by torture, and by tribulation, and by burning, he conquered the tribulation because of his mind was fighting with the shield of truth.
(4Macc. 7:4 – Aramaic)

And 4Maccabees 8-18 cites the story of Hannah and her seven sons (2Macc. 7; b.Gittin 57b) to illustrate this concept, saying:

Therefore let us put on the full armor of self-control, which is divine reason (Logos).
(4Macc. 13:16 RSV)

The Aramaic version reads:

Therefore put on the full armor of authority over the passions, which belongs to the mind that fears Eloah.
(4Macc. 13:16 Aramaic)

There is a direct relationship between the Full Armor of Elohim and these Four Labors of Wisdom!

We must raise at least $550 by the end of the day today, or our account will go into the negative and start a chain reaction of returned items and fees.

Thought on Yom Kippur
By
Rabbi Robert. O. Miller

Kol Nidre – means “all vows,”

“All personal vows we have made that we did not fulfill, all personal oaths and pledges we made in the  past Yom Kippur until this Yom Kippur, that we did not fulfill, we publicly renounce. Let them all be relinquished and abandoned, null and void, neither firm nor established. Let our personal vows, pledges and oaths be considered neither vows nor pledges nor oaths.”

Let us observe the testimony of Hebrews.

“The Son is the radiance of Yahweh’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. (Heb. 1:3)”

On Yom Kippur, the judgment entered in these “books” is sealed.

“As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened… there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. (Daniel 7:9, 10, 13, 14)”

“I saw the dead, small and great, stand before Yahweh; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (Revelation 20:12)”

“I did not see a Temple in the city (New Jerusalem), because Yahweh Elohim and the Lamb (Messiah) are its Temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of Yahweh gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. (Revelation 21:22-27)”

This day is, essentially, your last appeal, your last chance to change the judgment for that year, to demonstrate your repentance and make amends.

“Since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, YahShua the Son of Yahweh, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess… Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence… (Heb. 4:14,16 )”

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain (Ta hagia is “within the veil.”), where YahShua, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. (Heb. 6:19,20)”

“The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven. (Heb. 8:1)”

The Torah Tots Website describes the Yom Kippur Temple Service like this:

On Yom Kippur the High Priest changes his clothes FIVE times, and at every change immersed himself in a Mikvah.

Before and after each change he also washes his hands and feet.

Two goats are the stars of this part of the show. The High Priest stands in the Azarah (courtyard) with an assistant priest to his right and the leader of the priest on duty that week on his left.

You’ve got two goats, one is going to be dedicated to Yahweh (Lord’s Kid) and the other is going to be sent to “Azazel.” – But which will be which?

A box is placed before the High Priest. It’s got only two wooden lots (pieces of wood) inside, one lot says “L’Yahweh”(for Yahweh), the other says “L’Azazel” (for Azazel). The High Priest puts both hands into the box and takes one lot in each hand. The lot in his right hand is placed on the head of the goat on the right. The lot in the left hand is placed on the head of the goat on the left.

The High Priest announces the goat marked “L’Yahweh”will be used as a supreme sacrifice. Later, the goat is slaughtered and its blood is sprinkled in the Holy of Holies.

The “L’Azazel” goat is led out to the desert by a special messenger who is chosen before Yom Kippur. This messenger’s job is to push the goat off a cliff where the animal will be smashed to the rocks below.

Pretty disturbing, eh? Well, it all goes to wake up the Commonwealth of Israel (US – you and me) to do Teshuva (repent). The thought that it should really be us instead of that goat gets the Teshuva juices going!

As we said, the High Priest only enters the Holy of Holies ONE day during the year. That is on Yom Kippur.

On Yom Kippur the High Priest enters a total of FOUR times:

  • The first time he offers a Korban Ketoret (Incense Offering). This is the highlight of the Yom Kippur service.
  • The next time he sprinkles the blood of the bull he personally offers as an atonement. The blood is sprinkled eight times before the Aron Hakodesh (Holy Ark).
  • The third time is when the blood of the “L’Hashem” goat is sprinkled eight times before the Holy Ark.
  • The fourth time he enters, is to retrieve the spoon and pan he left in the Holy of Holies after the Incense Offering.

“Only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance. The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still standing… He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood … For Messiah did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself now to appear for us in Yahweh’s presence. (Heb. 9:7-25)”

“. . . we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood if YahShua, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body. (Heb. 10:20)”

“The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp. And so YahShua also suffered outside the city gate… (Heb. 13:11-12)”

Let us now approach the Throne of Grace:

Hear our prayer
We have sinned before Thee
Have compassion upon us and upon our children
Help us bring an end to pestilence, war, and famine
Cause all hate and oppression to vanish from the earth
Inscribe us for blessing in the Book Of Life
Let the new year be a good year for us.

Donations have been very low this month. We must still raise at least $200 in the next few hours to prevent our account from going into the negative and creating a chain reaction of returned items and fees!ur rent was due yesterday, and we do not have it! We need your help today!

If you can make a one time donation of $500 or $1,000 dollars to support this work, now is the time to step up to the plate, as we are in a budget shortfall.

Do not expect that the established religious denominations are going to be reformed and accomplish this paradigm shift. They are to set in their ways to be of any use to Elohim. To the contrary the established religious leaders are the single greatest deterrent to the promotion of the truth today.

The Day of Atonement and The Bimah Seat Judgment of King Messiah Yeshua

The Day of Atonement and
The Bimah Seat Judgment of King Messiah Yeshua
By
Rabbi Robert. O. Miller

“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Messiah YahShua the righteous. And He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. (1 John 2:1-3)”

The Bimah

In the center front of Sanctuary you will find a pedestal called the Bimah. Bimah literally means the raised seating of a judge or a king (Matthew 27:19; John 19:13). In a synagogue, the Bimah is the elevated area from which the liturgy is chanted, the Torah is read, sermon is exhorted and our discussion is led. The Torah scrolls are placed on the Bimah when they are read. The Bimah is also used as a podium for leading services and to dispense justice in the community.

For example, the throne of a King is usually stepped seating. In other words, seating which is raised above the level of the surrounding area. Much the same as our courts today established for judgments. One must approach the raised judgment area called the bench. Likewise, the Bimah seat is simply the raised seating of someone who is to judge. Both Romans 14:10 and 2 Corinthians 5:9 speak of the “judgment seat” or Bimah.

“[Rebbe YahShua] went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up…to read (at the Bimah). And there was delivered unto him the Scroll of the prophet Isaiah. And …He…opened the Scroll (Luke 4:16, 17)”

One of the ministries that Messiah YahShua is doing for us in the Heavenlies is vindicating the saints against the accusations of the haSatan, which means the prosecutor,  the “the accuser of the brethren … which accused them before Yahweh day and night. (Revelation 12:10)” He is the great enemy of our souls, and as such is determined that none of the Believers have their rightful place in the Commonwealth of Israel. The ministry of intercession of Messiah on man’s behalf before the Bimah in the Heavenly Sanctuary is as essential to the Plan of Salvation as was his death upon the tree. “…He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to Yahweh through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens (Hebrews 7:24-26).”

The cases of the righteous must be settled before the Messiah comes and the resurrection of the just, that it may be known who are worthy of the first resurrection.  However, let it be said, the Bimah is not to inform Yahweh, because He knows, He is infinite and omniscient; but men and angels do not know because they are finite. The reason for the Bimah, then is that finite beings may not only believe that Yahweh is just, but that they may know both the perfection of His justice and the depth of His mercy. The Righteous have nothing to fear from the Bimah because we know it is Messiah’s ministry to get people into the Kingdom not keep people out.  If you miss the Kingdom you had to work hard at it.

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of Yahweh …What then shall we say to these things? If Yahweh is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against Yahweh’s elect? It is Yahweh who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Messiah who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of Yahweh, who also makes intercession for us. (Romans 8:16, 31-34)”

Since “Yahweh is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have showed toward His name” (Hebrews 6:10), He has appointed a time that “we must all appear before the Bimah of Messiah; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad [worthless]” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

Before the triumphant coming of our King and Messiah, YahShua, our Great High Priest and Intercessor, there must be a time of vindication of the saints before the Bimah of Yahweh.

“Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the King comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from Yahweh. (1 Corinthians 4:5)” Since we are commanded not to judge anything “before the time” there must be a “time” of investigation now because once King Messiah comes He will expose everything “to light” to include “the counsels of the hearts” then its too late.

“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. (Revelation 22:12)” The Bimah Seat of Messiah refers specifically to the investigation, the separation of the goats from the sheep and ultimate rewarding of the Saints, while the White Throne Judgment refers to the Bimah of Yahweh for punishment of all sinners. Between these two events all mankind will be judged, then we will be rewarded or punished accordingly. (2Corinthians 5:10 & Revelation 20:11-12)

“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwritten charges that were brought against us, which we were guilty of. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the gallows. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:13-15)”

We’re told “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more’”, (Hebrews 10:17). Unfortunately many draw the  conclusion since all our sins have been forgiven, that means our sins cannot possibly be considered at the judgment known as the Bimah Seat of Messiah. According to 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” However, forgiveness doesn’t exclude accountability!

The Apostle Rabbi Sha’ul drew courage and was motivated by the fact of rewards at the return of King Messiah YahShua: “For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our King YahShua when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy. (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20)”

“I beheld,” says the prophet Daniel, “till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head like the pure wool; His throne was like the fiery flame, and His wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him; thousand thousands ministered unto Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him; the Judgment was set, and the books were opened.” “And, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought Him near before Him. And there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages should serve Him; His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away.” (Daniel 7:9,10,13,14)

Rabbi Kepha warnedthe men of Israel: “Repent therefore and be converted (turn around – teshivah), that your sins may be blotted out, so that Times of Refreshing may come from the presence of Yahweh, and that He may send Messiah YahShua, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the Times of Restoration of all things, which Yahweh has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.” (Acts 3:19-21)

Rebbe YahShua Himself explained: “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.” (Revelation 3:5) Again He said to His disciples: “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 10: 32, 33).

And the Heavenly Father says: “I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee. (Isaiah 44:22)”

Right now, the lives of all who are in covenant pass in solemn review before the Bimah of Yahweh. HaSatan, the prosecutor, is bringing charges on us.  Our Advocate examines the cases of each person and defends them before the Heavenly Father.

Every name is mentioned, every case closely investigated. Names are accepted, names are rejected. From age to age, all who have truly repented of sin, and by faith claimed the blood of Yahweh’s Lamb as their atoning sacrifice, have had pardon written against their names in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and in the closing work of Judgment their sins are blotted out, and they themselves are accounted worthy of eternal life.

The Tares & Wheat

“Another parable He put forth to them, saying: ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.  But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.  So the servants of the owner came and said to him, “Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?”  He said to them, “An enemy has done this.” The servants said to him, “Do you want us then to go and gather them up?” But he said, “No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, ‘First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”

Then Rebbe YahShua sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, ‘Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.’

He answered and said to them: ‘He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! (Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43)”

Dragnet

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away. So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13:47-50)”

Tested By Fire

This investigative judgment is a testing by fire. “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Messiah Yahshua.  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire” (1 Corinthians 3:11-15). Whatever can withstand, fiery judgment of the Bimah Seat will be rewarded.

The Story of Job

This is the whole reason we have the Book of Job in the Tanach (Old Testament).  It is one of the oldest books in Scripture.  So, right away Yahweh wanted you to understand the inner workings of the judicial system of Heaven.

“Now there was a day when the Sons of Elohim came to present themselves before Yahweh, and haSatanalso came among them. And Yahweh said to haSatan, ‘From where do you come?’

So haSatan answered Yahweh and said, ‘From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.’

Then Yahweh said to haSatan, ‘Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?’

So haSatan answered Yahweh and said, ‘Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.  But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!’

And Yahweh said to haSatan, ‘Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.

So haSatan went out from the presence of Yahweh. (Job 1:6-12)”

Job, or Jovav, a descendent of Esau, a king of Edom mentioned in Genesis 36:33, lived in the land of “Uz”, and was a righteous man. He possessed great riches in cattle and servants, which at that time constituted the principal wealth even of princes in Arabia and Edom. He had seven sons and three daughters and had a great reputation among all people, on both sides of the Euphrates.

Yahweh permits haSatan to put Job to the test, by first giving him power over his property, but forbidding him to touch his person. HaSatan began by taking away his oxen: a company of Sabeans slew his husbandmen and drove off all the beasts; one servant only escaping to bring the news. While he was reporting this misfortune, a second came, and informed Job that fire from heaven had consumed his sheep, and those who kept them; and that he alone had escaped. A third messenger arrived, who said “The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!(Job 1:17)”

He had scarcely concluded, when another came, and said, “While your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking in their eldest brother’s house, an impetuous wind suddenly overthrew it, and they were all crushed to death under the ruins; I alone am escaped to bring you this news.”

Job rent his clothes and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground saying, ‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away; Blessed be the name of Yahweh.’(Job 1:20-22)”

As Job endured each of these trials never did his Faith in Yahweh wane, haSatan asked permission to afflict Job’s body as well, and Yahweh said, “Behold he is in your hand, but don’t touch his life.” HaSatan, therefore, gave him a dreadful disease, probably leprosy, and Job, seated in ashes, scraped off the corruption with a piece of pottery. His wife told him to “curse Elohim, and die” but Job answered “Shall we receive good at the hand of Elohim, and shall we not receive evil?”

In meantime, only three of his friends, having been informed of his troubles, came to visit him – Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. A fourth was Elihu the Buzite.

They continued seven days sitting on the ground by him, without speaking, but at last Job broke silence, and complained of his misery.

Three of Job’s believe he is being punished for disobeying Yahweh’s law. The fourth believes Job doesn’t have enough faith or else he would be healed. Job is convinced that this is not the reason for his tribulation. He believes Yahweh is doing this to him, he just doesn’t understand why.  So he inquires of Yahweh and most of the book is his conversation with the Heavenly Father.

All the while, Job believes he has an advocate in Heaven defending him:I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. (Job 19:25)”

In the end Yahweh condemns Job’s friends for their insistence on speaking wrongly of His motives and methods, commands them to make extensive animal sacrifices and instructs Job to pray for their forgiveness. Immediately Yahweh restores Job to health, giving him double the riches he had before (including 10 new children). His daughters were the most beautiful in the land, and were given inheritance while they were still alive. Job is found vindicated in the Heavenly Court and  is the crowned with a holy life and with a happy death.

The Door Is Still Open

While YahShua, our High Priest is pleading for the Believer, haSatan accuses us before Yahweh as Torah offenders. HaSatan points to the defects in our character, to our failures which dishonors our Redeemer, to all the sins which he has tempted us to commit, and because of these he lays charges against us hoping to damn our souls.

At the same time his agents are working on the Believer to lead them into skepticism, to cause them to lose confidence in Yahweh, to separate them from His love, and to break His law or deny it all together through vain religion.

This is the reason why the Apostle Rabbi Yochannan wrote his Second Epistle to the “elect lady (Israel) and her children” He is zealous for the defense of the testimony of YahShua against the lies of deceivers and antichrists, who attempt to rob the Saints of their rewards. “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Messiah YahShua is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward” (2 John 7-8).

“A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened. (Daniel 7:10)”

“I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. (Revelation 20:12)”

In the investigative judgment of the saints, we will not be physically present there, we will be represented by our great High Priest and Advocate, Messiah YahShua the righteous (Zechariah 3:1-4).

Just think, great and small, high and low, rich and poor, are to be judged “out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” Day after day, everything is being recorded for the books of Heaven. Words once spoken, deeds once done, can never be undone. Angels of Yahweh have registered both the good and the evil. The “seven eyes, which are the seven spiritsof Yahweh sent out into all the earth (Revelation 5:6)” report to Yahweh and its all written down in the books of Heaven.  The mightiest conqueror or most regal king upon the earth cannot call back the record of even a single day. Our acts, our words, and our motives even our most secret thoughts, all have their weight in deciding our destiny for Heaven or Hell. Though they may be forgotten by us, they will bear their testimony to justify or condemn. They go before us into the investigation of our lives.

“Seek Yahweh while he may be found; call on Him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him, and to our Elohim, for he will freely pardon. (Isaiah 55:6, 7)”

The Ten Virgins

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

…while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

Later the others also came. ‘Sir! Sir!’ they said. ‘Open the door for us!’

But he replied, ‘I tell you the truth, I don’t know you.’  (Matthew 25:1-12)”

“When they go with their flocks and herds to seek Yahweh, they will not find Him; He has withdrawn Himself from them. (Hosea 5:6)”

The Day of AtOneMent

In the 16th chapter of Leviticus, we see the High Priest washing himself in the Mikveh of the Lavar, putting on the holy garments of white, entering upon his most holy ministry, the cleansing of the Sanctuary. All year long, the Israelite, convicted of sin, brought a sin-offering – a lamb – to the Tabernacle, laid his hands on its head, confessed his sins, and then cut the lamb’s throat, and the priest took some of the blood with his finger, put it on the horns of the Altar of Burnt Offering, and pour all the remaining blood at the base of the altar (Leviticus 4:29-30). When the congregation sinned corporately, the assembly offered a young bull for the sin, and brought it before the Tabernacle of Meeting. And the elders of the congregation laid their hands on the head of the bull before Yahweh. Then the bull was killed before Yahweh.  The anointed priest brought some of the bull’s blood into the Tabernacle of Meeting carrying it into the Holy Place of the Tabernacle, and sprinkled it on the Golden Incense Altar before the veil, which divided the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies (Leviticus 4:13-17). By this means the guilt of the confessed sins were transferred to the Sanctuary. Now, the time for  the daily sin-offerings has ceased, and the High Priest, on this day, atones for or blots out the sins of whole Commonwealth of Israel, and removes them from the Sanctuary, where they have been imputed or laid during the year, through the blood of the sacrificial offerings. On Yom Kippur, all his actions are for the corporate atonement of Israel  and the cleansing the Sanctuary, the High Priest passes into the Most Holy Place, bearing on the breast-plate of judgment the names of all the Tribes of Israel symbolizing all that have applied for a remission of sins, through the blood of the Lamb of Yahweh; and THE DOOR of Holy Place IS SHUT. “And there shall be NO MAN in the Tabernacle of the Congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel. (Leviticus 16:17)” Taking some of the blood of the Lord’s Kid, the High Priest carried it into the Holy of Holies and sprinkled it before the Mercy Seat under which was the two solid cubes of sapphire – the law of Yahweh – which Israel had been guilty of breaking. The High Priest then gathered up the guilt that had been applied to the Tabernacle by the blood, carried them out, placing it on the head of the scapegoat, which bore the guilt of the faithful repentant sinners, into the wilderness, and thus the Sanctuary and the whole Commonwealth were cleansed. On Yom Kippur, he is a High Priest for those only whose names are inscribed on the breast-plate of judgment. “Behold, the Lamb of Yahweh, who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29)” Now just as the A’aronic priesthood was a type of the Zaddokite priesthood of Messiah being the Melchizedek, then the Tabernacle, with its apartments and courts, were figures of the True Tabernacle in Heaven; and the services and ordinances of the earthly Tabernacle were shadows of Messiah’s ministry in the Heavenlies. As the guilt of the sins of the people were anciently transferred in type, to the earthly Sanctuary by the blood of the sin offering, so our guilt is, in fact, transferred to the Heavenly Sanctuary by the blood of Messiah.  “Messiah came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect Tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Holy of Holies once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. (Hebrews 9:10-12)” This is a perfect view of what Messiah’s ministry is now, (before he puts on the kingly robes, and girds his sword upon his thigh, and comes to execute judgment,) that he will cease to be a priest in the Holy Place of the True Tabernacle for the sins of the whole world, and put on the holy garments, and, with the Commonwealth of Israel inscribed on HIS breast-plate of judgment, go in with them before the Mercy-Seat, where Rabbi Yochannan saw one having a golden censor offering the prayers of all saints (wise virgins) before the throne; and be a merciful High Priest over the Household of Faith, cleanse the Sanctuary and place all the guilt of the sins of Israel upon the scapegoat, which is the haSatan. Then, he will take off the priestly garments, and clothe himself with the garments of wrath, and come to gather his elect from the four winds, under heaven, and destroy the wicked, and set up the Kingdom.

Goats & Sheep

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats (the distinction being made in the investigative judgment). He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.’ (Matthew 25:31-34)”

Justified By Faith Alone

The Holy Scriptures are clear that the Believer is justified by faith alone, apart from any good works we do (Romans 4:5; Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5). Yet as Believers we are judged and rewarded according to our good works (Matthew 16:27; John 5:28,29: 2 Corinthians 5:10).

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)”

“This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in Yahweh should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. (Titus 3:8)”

“Let me renew covenant with you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:34-35)”

It is not by our words that we give evidence of this but by our works. As Messiah YahShua said, “By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. (Matthew 7:16-20).

The Talents

The use made of every talent will be investigated. “For the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.  And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey.  Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’

But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.

For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ (Matthew 25:14-30)”

Right Representation

“He who acts as his own attorney has a fool for a client.” And He who thinks he can represent himself before the Throne of Yahweh is a damned fool!

“He that covers up his sins, shall not prosper; but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13) Those who hide and excuse their faults will be found guilty of obstruction of justice.  If we confess now we will not be found guilty later: “if we would judge ourselves (investigative judgment), we should not be judged (Great White Throne Judgment)” (1Corinthians 11:31) Messiah YahShua pleads with us to allow him to represent us. “…if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Messiah YahShua the righteous…” He is an Advocate that is righteous in good standing before the Heavenly Court.  No one wants a lawyer that is in trouble with the law himself.  Messiah YahShuareminds us of His wounded hands, His bruised body (Isaiah 53); reminds us that he understands us having been tempted to do wrong himself but was victorious (Hebrews 4:15) and He declares to all who would accept his representation, “My grace is sufficient for thee.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. (John 5:24)”

“But this man [Rebbe YahShua], after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of Yahweh; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. (Hebrews 10:12-14)”

“But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Messiah. (Romans 14:10)” Since a believer has already passed from condemnation to justification to sanctification, the question is often asked why believers have to stand before the judgment seat of Messiah. The answer is because, as in all court cases, there is an accuser.

“But now a righteousness from Yahweh, beside from Torah, has been made known, to which the Torah and the Prophets testify.  This righteousness from Yahweh comes through faith in Messiah YahShua to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Yahweh, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Messiah YahShua. Yahweh presented him as a sacrifice of atonement through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in YahShua. (Romans 3:21-26)”

Kavanna What is Your Motivation Love or Legalism

Because we tend to be legalistic as humans, we must constantly remind ourselves that we are justified, or declared righteous, before Yahweh by faith alone in Messiah YahShua. Law-keeping does not save us but is the evidence of our salvation. Messiah YahShua said, “If you love me, keep my commandments” (1 John 5:1-3).

“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to Thy Word. With my whole heart have I sought Thee: O let me not wander from Thy Commandments. Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee” (Psalm 119:9-11).

The Apostle Rav Yakkov, the brother of YahShua said, “You see that [Abraham’s] faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. (James 2:22)” Abraham’s works proved that his faith was genuine. In the same way, our works of faith will be used by Messiah YahShua, our Advocate, to prove in the investigative judgment that our faith is true.

“…know that a man is not justified by legalistically observing the Torah, but by faith in Messiah YahShua. So we, too, have put our faith in Messiah YahShua that we may be justified by faith in Messiah and not by legalistically observing the Torah, because by legalistically observing the Torah no one will be justified. (Galatians 2:16)” We must not confuse “works of faith” with legalism. Legalism is doing good works or keeping the Torah in order to earn salvation. In contrast, “works of faith” are the fruit of the Spirit. While these fruits do not contribute toward our salvation, they do give evidence of it. That is why they will be brought up in the judgment, to prove our justification by faith.

“…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These things do not offend the Torah. (Galatians 5:21-23)”

The Verdict

Messiah YahShua doesn’t excuse our sin, rather he claims His shed blood as a “kippur” a covering for sin blotting out the offense.  He lifts His wounded hands before the Father and the holy angels, saying, I know them by name. ‘I know my sheep and my sheep know me.’ (John 10:14) I have graven them on the palms of My hands. ‘The sacrifices of Elohim are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O Elohim, thou wilt not despise.'” (Psalms 51:17) And to the accuser of His people He declares, “Yahweh rebuke thee, O haSatan; even Yahweh that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee. Is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?” (Zechariah 3:2)

That’s where we were headed – hell fire.  The “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Yahweh is eternal life inMessiah YahShua our King. (Romans 6:23)” So, since “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Yahweh (Romans 3:23)” if we got justice we would be sentenced to death “thrown into the lake of fire, which is the second death. (Revelation 20:14 )”  This is what YahShua, our Advocate has “plucked” us out of.

Messiah then presents us to His Father “a glorious assembly, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing.” (Ephesians 5:27) Our names stand enrolled in the bank of life, and concerning them it is written, “They shall walk with Me in white; for they are worthy.” (Revelation 3:4) The verdict in the investigative judgment will be in favor of the saints. It is only after Messiah has vindicated us that He will come to take back the Commonwealth of Israel from the Nations. This is the blessed hope for which we are all waiting.

As with the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 23:26-32),all who would have their names inscribed in the Lamb’s Book of life, should now, in the few remaining days of this present age, afflict their souls before Yahweh by sorrow for sin, and true repentance. There must be deep, faithful introspection of heart. The worldly, frivolous spirit indulged by Mystery Babylon must be put away. There is earnest spiritual warfare before all who would be victorious over the evil inclination called the Flesh that strives to enslave us.

“[Messiah] …gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. (Titus 2:14)”

“As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12).

“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more” (Hebrews 8:12).

“Thou hast cast all my sins behind Thy back” (Isaiah 38:17).

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Messiah YahShua, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)”

“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Romans 5:9)”

What Are The Rewards For The Saints?

“And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an Incorruptible crown” (1Corinthians 9:25).

“For what is our hope, or joy, or Crown of Rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our King Messiah YahShua at His Coming?” (1Thessalonians 2:19).

“Henceforth there is laid up for me a Crown of Righteousness, which the King, the Righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8).

“Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a Crown of Life” (Revelation 2:10).

“And when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away” (1Peter 5:4).

The Messiah *is* Jewish Tradition

The Messiah is Jewish Tradition
By
James Scott Trimm

One of the most important evidences of the importance of the Oral Law for believers in Yeshua as Messiah, is that the Messiah concept is in itself Oral Law.

Let me explain what I mean. Using the Tanak alone, one cannot demonstrate that there is a single eschatological figure to come called “The Messiah”.  If you presented a group of people who never heard of the concept of “The Messiah” with copies of the Tanak and left them alone for years, you would not come back to hear them talking about a figure known as “The Messiah”.

Yes there are references to a figure called “the servant” in Isaiah (Click here for more on this).  And there is a prophecy of “a prophet” like Moses in Deut 18 (Click here for more on this. Some commentators) take this to refer generally to each of the prophets after Moses).  And there are also prophecies in the Tanak concerning a figure called “the branch” using a variety of different Hebrew words for “branch” (click here for more on this) .  And there are a number of other passages referring to figures sometimes with no appellation at all.  How do we know that these and other prophecies speak of a single figure called “The Messiah” and not to a number of different figures altogether?  The answer is “tradition”.

Do a word search on “The Messiah” in the Tanak and you will get zero results.  If one rejects tradition, then one rejects the very basis for the concept of “The Messiah”, Yeshua or otherwise.

I have found in seeking to debate an anti-missionary that they want to limit the material to be cited in the debate to be the Tanak only.  This is odd because the anti-missionaries I am speaking of are Rabbinic Jews.  Why should they want to eliminate the Targums, Talmuds, Midrashim, Zohar and other Rabbinic literature from the debate?  Neither of us are Kaaraites, so why take a Kaarite position in the debate?  The reason friends, is that the concept of the Messiah is essentially an Oral Law concept!  And the anti-missionaries KNOW THIS WELL.  The Messiah is almost never mentioned in the Tanak by that title (The possible exceptions being “YHWH has anointed me” (Is. 61:1); “His anointed” (Ps. 2:2) “an anointed shall be cut off” (Dan. 9:26).  Even these passages are unclear in the Tanak alone, as they could simply refer to a “an anointed one” rather than “The Messiah.”

The only way to demonstrate clearly that any given passage is in fact a reference to Messiah is to rely upon the Oral Law (thru such sources as the Targums, the Talmuds, the Midrashim and the Zohar).  It is the Oral Law that ties all of these passages together into a single figure known as “The Messiah.”

For example the word “Messiah” never appears in Isaiah 53, yet we know form the Targum, the Talmud, the Midrash Rabbah and the Zohar that Isaiah 53 speaks of the Messiah.

This is why, while some Rabbinic Jews and even Orthodox Rabbis have accepted Yeshua as the Messiah, I know of no case where a Kaarite (Karaites reject the Oral Law) has come to Messiah.  There is virtually no way to make the case to a Kaarite that Yeshua is the Messiah.  By contrast I can show any open minded Rabbinic Jew that Yeshua is the Messiah of Judaism, and I have done just that in my free book Mashiach: The Messiah from a True Jewish Perspective.

In fact it is for this very reason that Yeshua’s original followers came from the Pharisees and Essenes and few if any came from the Sadducees.  That is because the Sadducees rejected the Oral Law and thus had no framework for the very concept of the Messiah and they could not accept Yeshua as a Messiah when they did not even accept the concept of Messiah at all.

The idea of Yeshua as the Messiah makes perfect sense in terms of Jewish tradition, but without Jewish tradition, there is no concept of a Messiah at all.

The Most Important Book I have Ever Written is Free

This book is the most important book I have ever written.  This 115 page work explains, from a uniquely Jewish perspective, who the Messiah is, what His purpose is to accomplish, why He is sent, and how He will accomplish Elohim’s purpose for Him. In this book I paint an absolutely accurate picture of the Messiah.  This book establishes the identity of Messiah using only the Tanak and other ancient Jewish writings (The Targums, Talmuds, Midrashim, Sefer Yetzirah, Bahir, Zohar, Dead Sea Scrolls and the writings of Philo).

This book never quotes the NT or references Yeshua by name. By the time you have read this book, you will already know who the Messiah is, and the book does not need to name him for you.

This book is the ideal tool with which to reach Jewish people with Yeshua as Messiah.

Since December of 2019, five years ago, I have published nearly 700 educational blogs, bringing the message of Torah and Messiah freely to the world! And now we are concentrating on also putting out more video teachings (our YouTube Channel already has 228 teaching videos).

And that does not count the online Scripture commentaries and related free online materials we are producing regularly, as well as my ongoing work on the Scripture Restoration Project!

Although I have written a handful of books that are for sale, I have learned that the way to have the greatest impact on the world, is to make information freely available on the internet.

It is likely that no other ministry puts out this much high quality free teaching.

But I cannot make bricks without straw. Since 2018 I have been caretaker of my wife, who is disabled. chronically ill, and suffering from chronic pain.
