From my Hebraic Roots Commentary to Luke

24:21 it is three days since all these things happen – This seems to point to a Thursday crucifixion, despite popular theories of either a Friday or a Wednesday crucifixion.. This statement is clearly made during the day on Sunday (the First Day of the Week). Thus if we count backwards using this verse as a basis we find:
Sunday (1st Day of week) is the third day
“since all these things happened”
Saturday (7th Day of week) is the second day
“since all these things happened”
Friday (6th Day of week) is the first day
“since all these things happened”
Thursday (5th Day of week) is the day
“all these things happened”
Brother James: you seem to miss/ignore the fact that His Burial was just before Sunset on Passover which means that The Prophecy of Jonah [the ONLY sign that Messiah would give] emphatically makes His Resurrection exactly 72 hours later, meaning it was a Sunset Resurrection. His Resurrection was humanly PROVED at 5-6am when they came to anoint His Body Sunday morning!
This single verse thinking is the same mindset as those who misuse the word ‘Fulfill’ stated in Matthew 5:17 and in the 9am time of Messiahs Death expressed in Mark 15:25.
Case in point#1; I agree that the dictionary meaning of fulfill is to complete or to end, however the Bible does a perfect job defining itself that Seekers of The Truth don’t go astray. So, ”It is finished”, I have finished the work which the Father gave Me to do, Messiah said as He gave up His Spirit. John 19:30, meaning that all is complete, can’t change anything now. And so, Think not that I have come to abolish the Law or the prophets, I have come to fulfill [Matthew 5:17-18], Where fulfill is fully described in Acts 3:18, Luke 24:44, and Acts 13:29, which says; “But this is how God fulfilled what He had announced in advance, when He spoke through all the prophets, namely, that His Messiah was to die”. Again, “These are My Words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” [Luke 24:27, 44 NASB]
So, fulfill means; His Birth, Life, Ministry, and Execution all had to be done exactly as His Prophets, years before, wrote of Him to do and say. How could abolishing the law or the prophets have ever suited Him or been His intent? Everything He said was all about keeping His Promises and His Law. He is GOD!
There seems to be more such misunderstood, I should dare say, mistranslated verses that I believe The Master allowed ‘for our itching ears to follow’ instead of sound doctrine.
There seems to be more such misunderstood, I should dare say, mistranslated verses that I believe The Master allowed ‘for our itching ears to follow’ instead of sound doctrine. 2 Timothy 4:3 “And for this cause [reason] God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie” 2 Thessalonians 2:11
In a Court of Law the Friday/Sunday, as well as, your Thursday Crucifixion & Sunday Resurrection Theories would be quickly dismissed without argument.
The Federal Observatory, who claims the ‘Weekly Cycle’ has NEVER changed, also shows that on Wednesday April 25, year 31 A.D. it was also 14 Abib, the day Pesach is commanded Exodus 12:6, Leviticus 23:5 so Thursday through Saturday would be 3 night + So maybe Luke 24:12 actually said “…today is three days since these things were done”
