Backing the War on HaSatan
By
James Scott Trimm
We are at war. We are in a daily ongoing war with HaSatan, and with the principalities and with authorities and with the possessors of this dark world and with the evil spirits that are under heaven. As we read in the Scriptures:
7 And there was war in heaven and Mikha'el and his angels
were fighting with the dragon, and the dragon and his angels
fought.
8 And they did not prevail and no place was found for
them in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that head serpent who
is called 'Akel Kartza and HaSatan, who deceived the whole earth.
And he was cast out upon the earth and his angels were cast
out with him.
10 And I heard a great voice from heaven saying,
Behold, there is deliverance and power and the kingdom
of our Eloah, for the accuser of our brothers is cast out,
who accused them night and day before our Eloah....
And the dragon was angry concerning the woman, and he went to wage war with the
remnant of her seed--those who keep the commandments of Eloah and have the
testimony of Yeshua.
(Rev. 12:7-10, 17 - HRV)
"Your struggle is not with flesh and blood,
but with principalities and with authorities
and with the possessors of this dark world
and with the evil spirits that are under heaven."
(Eph. 6:12 HRV)
Now recently I received an email from an individual making a sarcastic comment about fighting HaSatan by throwing money at him. Although the comment was made in sarcasm, there is a very real ironic truth to the idea of fighting HaSatan with money.
Of course some will immediately say that "money is the root of all evil" supposedly quoting 1Tim. 6:10. There are some problems with this supposed quote. First of all 1Tim. 6:10 does not say "money" but "the love of money". Secondly the KJV has a mistranslation here with the phrase "the root of all evil". Most translations, such as the NAS have "the root of all sorts of evil" and the Aramaic has "the root of all these evils" referring back to verse 9:
But those who desire to grow rich,
fall into temptations and into snares,
and into many lusts: which are foolish,
and are hurtful, and drown the sons of men
in corruption and destruction.
(1Tim. 6:10 HRV)
Others will quote Yeshua's words:
No man can serve two masters:
for either he will hate the one, and love the other,
or else he will love the one, and hate the other.
You cannot serve Elohim and Mammon.
(Matt. 6:24 HRV also Luke 16:13)
Here the word "Mammon" is a Hebrew word meaning "wealth". This passage says only that we cannot serve Elohim and wealth, not that money is inherently evil.
While money can be a tool of HaSatan, a kingdom with stands against itself cannot stand.
25 ...Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation,
and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.
26 And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself,
and how then will his kingdom stand?
(Matt. 12:25-26 HRV)
In fact one can fight HaSatan with money because HaSatan's Kingdom is divided against himself and as a result ultimately he will fall. While the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil, money itself can also be used against HaSatan.
Now the fact is a major tool in fighting any war is money.
The American revolution was won largely because of the efforts of our Jewish founding father; businessman and broker Haym Salomon. Saloman was responsible for raising most of the money needed to finance that war.
Our own earthly fathers in the "Great Generation" knew well that buying War Bonds was a major key in winning the war against Hitler's Nazi Germany. No one scoffed at the selling of War Bonds during World War II. No one would have said with sarcasm that we were throwing money at Hitler.
And as recently as the late Twentieth Century, Ronald Reagan famously won the cold war and brought down the "Evil Empire" of the Soviet Union through a strategy of outspending the USSR on national defense.
How much more so must we make it a priority to fund the war with HaSatan. Supporting the work of the Word of YHWH and the restoration is a Scriptural precept which must not be denied by those of us who claim to follow the Torah and the Messiah. There is much work do be done, and that work must be financed. The fact is it takes money to reach the modern world with modern methods of mass communication. And it takes money to fairly compensate those who labor in the Word and are worthy of their wage.
Back in the twentieth Century the old Worldwide Church of God under Armstrong had a disproportionate effect on the World, popularizing the seventh day Sabbath, the Biblical feasts, abstinence from pagan customs, and even a form of two house theology, in the mid to late 20th century! There were only about 60,000 members, but they opened two college campuses, produced weekly radio and TV programs, distributed free books and booklets, a free correspondence class and a free news magazine which had more subscribers than Time, Newsweek, and US News and World Report COMBINED. They had a disproportionate effect on theology of the twentieth century, frankly setting the stage in many ways for this restoration.
How did a few thousand people have such a disproportionate impact? They tithed and they were serious about tithing. Now you may say the economy is bad, well Armstrong’s Worldwide Church of God was established during the Great Depression, yet they tithed anyway and look at the impact they had.
It has been said that you can tell the degree of a man's interest in something by where he spends his money. For example, sports fans will generally put their money into sports, buying tickets and memorabilia. Movie fan's will typically spend money on movie tickets an DVDs or Blu-Rays. Likewise the sincerity of a man's faith may be demonstrated by where he puts his money. Not only is money itself not evil, one might say that when we give our money, we are really giving of ourselves. When a man works all week and then picks up his paycheck, what is his paycheck for? It is for a weeks worth of his time and effort, "his blood his sweat and his tears" as we commonly say. In a very real way his paycheck is a weeks worth of himself in the form of currency. When we give our money, we are really giving of ourselves, and that makes us soldiers in the war with HaSatan. In fact when we give money, we are taking a part of the time and effort we spend at work and we turn it directly into time and effort spent undermining HaSatan.
We as believers can and must have a disproportionate impact on the world as well. But to do this, we need to get as serious about the tithe as we are about the Sabbath, the Kosher laws and the rest of the commandments in the Torah of YHWH. If we say the Torah is for all generations forever, then we should put our money where our mouth is, and back those words by paying the tithe (or at the very least giving what we can).
Regardless of whether one pays the full tithe or not, it is still important to do what we can to support the Work of the Word of YHWH and the fight to undermine the work of HaSatan in his efforts to keep this world enshrouded in darkness.
I am asking all of you to chip in and do your part in backing the war on HaSatan.
HaSatan wishes "to steal and to kill and to destroy" (Jn. 10:10) and he knows the time is short and has stepped up his war with those who proclaim both Torah Observance and Faith in Messiah (the two pillars of Nazarene Judaism) (Rev. 12:12, 17; 13:7). But no weapon forged against us will prosper (Is. 54:17).
Bills are coming due and right now we just do not have the funds to cover them.
We really need our supporters to step up to the plate this week.
Please help us bring the message of Torah and Messiah to a lost world and create Scripture study materials for believers. Folks we REALLY need you to step up to the plate now more than ever! We are struggling to keep our home (Click Here to find out more)

Comment by Robert McDuffie on July 29, 2012 at 7:20am Very, very well said brother Ya 'acov. Part of the problem of the restoration of all things is most of us do not put our money where our mouth is. I have personally observed that most talk Torah, but they do not walk Torah. There is still way to much "Greek", Hellenistic thinking in this movement. Shalom Aleichem!
Comment by Joseph S on July 29, 2012 at 12:29pm Dear James...How many ideas has YHVH given me, or you, that died on the vine because 'people' are jaded and cynicism reigns to the point that YHVH's messengers die too, and from poverty....lack of money. The western world has its democracy. It has its academicians, its preachers and pastors and rabbis etc....but why does YHVH use simpletons or 'the unlettered'? ...You have done well James. there's room at the head of the table to sit you beside Messiah....but I sense that we still must wait for everyone to see how the 'slipper fits'.
The 'war' for us is over. We who now know the truth are to continue in it...if you are in politics then stay there....if you are a homemaker, then stay there....and if you are poor then stay there....it doesn't mean you can't learn new things, it's just that in a few weeks or months YHVH's Messiah will be 'physically' acting here.....not just 'spiritually' interceding, such as what we have experienced via the 'Holy Spirit' who was sent to guide us into the truth of all things.....If you are in the shoes of Elijah then you would understand the symbolism of the ravens who fed him......Ravens, crows, blackbirds...that "family" or class of bird is cantankerous and argumentative....a 'hellenistic' type....and for them to feed Elijah required an order, a command, from 'nature's god', (as Thomas Jefferson would say), YHVH. This tells me that they lacked the necessary enlightenment, like people today. I know of a small congregation today who elects their leadership...then they please themselves by telling themselves this is YHVH's "will"....is it? They chose...mostly from tradition...the leader they chose is their leader now because his father was the leader before him and the grandfather was the guy who started the 'church' "way back when"......Is that YHVH? and when YHVH sent them 'messengers' the congregants pretty much had nothing to say....now I see, several years later, that they are still just as argumentative and "infiltrated" by 'tares of the enemy'....but you can't tell them that.....they're 'ravens'......Speak only to YHVH about your needs...He will provide....Let those who are His instruments come forth by the urging of the Holy Spirit or by His command......The Mazzaroth says we only have a few "moments of time" to endure. And we are in good company...the whole of the earth groans with us.....
