Be Careful How You Study
Scripture Should Bother You!
"To whom would He teach knowledge, And to whom would He interpret the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just taken from the breast? For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.” (Isaiah 28:9-10) The study of Torah in its original language elicits insights that elude even the most elaborate translation. How often do we read a piece of Scripture… Continue

This momentous volume was originally published by Rabbi Tzivi Nassi (Hirsch Prinz) nearly a century and a half ago in 1863. Rabbi Tzivi Nassi was born in Breslau, Silesia (in present day Poland), on August 11, 1800, the youngest of six children he was the son of an Orthodox Rabbi. Though orphaned at the… Continue

Donations on the chip-in counter are down 50% following two months in which they were down by 33%. Over the summer when donations were down we were able to defer large portions of our electric bill (my wife is disabled and they had a special program for the disabled this last summer) which must now be paid out over the next five months. In short this is the worst possible time for donations to decline even further. In fact had it not been for donations from our recent speaking engagement with… Continue

There is a beautiful Midrash concerning the death of the patriarch Ya'kov (Jacob).
From his deathbed Ya'kov called his twelve sons to him asking them each to bring a stick. When they had come to him Ya'akov asked his sons to tie all the sticks in a bundle. Then he asked them to each try to break the bundle of sticks. Having passed the bundle around they each failed to break it. Then Ya'akov told them to loose the bundle, pass the individual sticks around, and attempt to break them… Continue
The following is a commentary on Leviticus 25 found in cave 11 of the Dead Sea Scrolls. It could have written by a Nazarene, except for the fact that it predates the birth of Yeshua.
The document is very interesting as it speaks of a Messiah who it identifies as "EL" and "ELOHIM". It also quotes Isaiah 61:2 substituting "Melchizadek" for YHWH.
This Melchizadek figure "shall atone for all the Sons of Light" thus "releasing them from the debt of all their sins" in a… Continue
In Yochanan we read that when Yochanan was immersing in the wilderness
26 Yochanan answered and said to them, I immerse with water: but among you stands One, whom you do not know. 27 This is the One, who will come after me--yet was before me: the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to… Continue
I have just gotten home from Kansas where I had the pleasure this last weekend of addressing B'nai Yeshua Nazarene Congregation. This was a small but very receptive group, and we had a great Sabbath meeting.
I left Friday morning and it looks like I have a lot of catching up to do, as there has been a flurry of posting in the last four days, so please be patient as I catch up.
Folks there are some things I need to talk to you all about.
I want to start by saying that the modern restoration of the ancient sect of the Nazarenes has been very successful. Since we founded the Society for the Advancement of Nazarene Judaism (which has since evolved into the Worldwide Nazarene Assembly of Elohim) back in 1996, Nazarene Judaism has been restored to the earth as an organized movement for the first time in centuries. Nazarene Judaism has gone from a forgotten… Continue
