Y'shua` and the Talmud

Started this discussion. Last reply by Yishmael Mar 27, 2010. 7 Replies

Can anyone help me find places in the B'ris Chadashah where Y'shua` refferenced the Talmud? I know I've read some stuff that I recognized as Talmud, but can't remember where.

Every year at Pesach this discussion comes up: "when was Y'shua` really executed, and when did He rise?" There is always the conflict about which days were Shabos, when firstfruits was, and when the…Continue

I recently heard a teaching that after Y'shua` died, the "good" part of Sh'ol was done away with, and the souls of the righteous now go directly to Heaven. I'm not one hundred percent convinced of…Continue

About me:
I used to be an orthodox messianic Jew, and believe in keeping Torah, and when applicable, the Oral Law (Talmud). I used to believe in Kabalah, and I think that both Talmudic and Kabbalistic ideas are referenced in the New Testament - because of the paradigm of the writers. I am now an Orthodox Christian, believing that the Church has the authority to interpret the Scriptures: "Verily I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on the earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever ye shall loose on the earth shall be loosed in heaven." Shalom Devan,

Here's some more info about the Santa, child, present ritual.

Pagan priests would ritually impregnate temple prostitutes whose offspring would be sacrificed one year later in a “child mass” (Christmass) where the newborns would be offered into a furnace located in the belly of a huge red effigy. After the child is incinerated a wish list is read out for various gifts to be bestowed upon all participants for the coming year. Today this practiced is also partially replicated in the Christmas ritual of bringing a child into Santa’s lap to request presents. The child offering and sacrifice aspect of the ritual is still echoed in the deliberate escalating act of abortion, though abortion is not generally motivated to appease a god. The most popular reason, an unwillingness to change lifestyle is an even more callous motive than a parent who brings their child as a precious offering to a false god.

The Canaanites sacrificed children to a large hollow idol called Moloch. According to the 12th century rabbi, Rashi, the image was made of brass; and heated in its lower parts. Its hands were fashioned to stretch out and hold the child as it was burnt alive. “…when it (the child) vehemently cried out…the priests beat a drum, that the father might not hear the voice of his son, and his heart might not be moved.” – Commentary by Rashi on Jeremiah 7:31

Hope this helps.

Jason.
