I lived near Pampa, Texas, I love it there. I was little then. My great uncle married a lady whose grandfather fought for Sam Houston, and at the end of the war, Houston gave out land parcels to those who fought for him, so her grandfather and his best friend went in together and started businesses. She was great! She filled me in on the history of some of the Texans, that they were immigrants from Germany. Most were escaping religious persecution. As I think about it now, and some of the things she said, they may have been Jewish. It would be nice to sit down and talk to her now and get some great 411 from her.
