I'd just like to state for the record that I have read one of the official Messianic Jewish websites in regard to their view of the Talmud and Rabbinic Judaism and I dissagree with them. They virtually attribute them as being mine fields over anything else, though they don't entirely reject them.

the Truth is, Torah and Scipture are "Yahweh breathed," not inspired, but rather works like the Mishnah and Zohar are inspired.

Even when Brother Trimm writes a book about these matters technically it is inspired!

Just needed to get this out there.

Good point Jason. I have other problems with"official Messianic Judaism". Keeping TOrah as a lure for Jews when YESHUA as well as Torah says we are to do so cuz we love G-D, keeping Shabbat andKosher when it looks good but violating when it seems ok to do so, excluding gentiles from Torahobservance, etc. Your comment is very wise. "Sin" is defined as violation of the Torah. Some define "sin" as violation of the commands of the rabbis. Clearly this "lashing," whether truly 39 lashes or 39 light taps with a whip, was done for a violation of an interpretation of rabbinic enactments. Conservative Jews, Reform Jews, and I would expect even most Orthodox Jews would disagree with this act, and will come out against it in the days to come.

R. Ovadiah Yosef took the traditional Rosh HaShanah blessing: "May our enemies and adversaries be destroyed", and applied it to the current situation. "Abu Mazen (Abbas) and all those evil men – may they perish from this world. May God Almighty strike them and these Palestinians."

What do you think? Should Nazarenes publicly agree with Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef on this subject?
