Yahweh’s Evangelistic Stimulus Plan
Evangelism is the proclamation of the Kingdom of Yahweh in the fullness of its blessings and promise.
“These twelve YahShua sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter into any city of the Samaritans: but go rather to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.’” (Matthew 10:5-7)
“…He answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the House of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Sovereign, help me.” (Matthew 15:24, 25)
“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will hear to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” (John 10:16)
“…this full Messianic message of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” (Matthew 24:14)
“…you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
“…Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father, by authority of the Son through the inspiration of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.” (Matthew 28:19)
No matter the color of your work shirt, this recession is sparing few. Economic downturns usually affect blue-collar and young workers but in this recession, layoffs and business closings are affecting bankers, middle managers, scientists, journalists, and, yes, even ministers. Due to the economy, whole congregations are merging with larger ones or just closing their doors. The Bush administration answer to our problem was to shovel money at it as fast as they could. Thus, the landmark $700 billion “Troubled Asset Relief Program” has become a study in ways to mess up a bailout. The Bush administration's Treasury Department shot off the first $350 billion like a Palestinian rocket Qassam seemingly without a way to direct how or where it was spent. Banks used it to buy other banks as well as other businesses without even a care to the thousands of homeowners unable to pay for their variable loans that initially caused this problem in the first place. That is immoral! Now the Obama administration is trying to hammer out better controls for the remaining $350 billion, but for purposes of economic recovery, the help then may be too late. Without even knowing what to do with the last bailout, President Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress purpose the $800 billion-plus so-called “Economic Stimulus Package” —a load of budget-busting spending that the President says will save or create millions of jobs, but also may prove to be the worst socialist attack this country has ever seen. This is a plan that gives socialists fulfillment of every wish they've had on their list for the last 100 years!
Planned Parenthood, which donates millions to political candidates, gets paid back with instant access to taxpayer financing abroad. So socialist “community organizers” like ACORN get billions under a new “neighborhood stabilization program.”
After I read the Congressional Budget Office's Jan. 26 report, I realized that just a little more than 1/10 of the $800 billion in extra spending appropriated by Congress in the House bill would be spent in fiscal 2009. So, for example, of the $59.5 billion in highly touted new transportation infrastructure, very little would get into the economy this year. And only 85% would be spent by 2013. "Five to seven years" is the timetable the Congressional Budget Office lays out for spending that so-called “Economic Stimulus Package” money.
President Barack Obama's last campaign was all about winning the presidency. Now his political supporters are throwing election-style house parties across the country to try to get people behind this economic stimulus plan. President Obama's “Organizing for America” chief Mitch Stewart sent an e-mail to the group's e-mail list urging them: “Join thousands of people across the country who are coming together to watch a special video about the recovery plan. Invite your friends and neighbors to watch the video with you and have a conversation about your community's economic situation.” President Obama's aides say, next week's house parties will keep millions of President Obama's grass-roots volunteers engaged.
“The president's plan passed the House of Representatives on Wednesday (1-28-09). But if it's going to move forward, we need to avoid the usual partisan games,” Stewart wrote. “That's why supporters are opening their homes to talk with neighbors and friends about how the plan will work — and what it means for their community.”
By using his “Organizing for America” as a political bully, President Obama will be able to keep his hands nominally clean of any messy lobbying of Congress. He'll be able to attribute it to his supporters.
President Obama's “Economic Stimulus” bill passed easily in the Democratic-controlled House even though it failed to garner a single Republican vote. “It looks to be on solid ground as it heads toward a Senate debate”; Vice President Joe Biden says, “Some Republicans will support it and take it to victory.”
By having President Obama's millions-strong organization plugged in to the legislation, supporters will enjoy the sense of victory. Everybody likes to back a winner! It's an early test for the ability of a network of political supporters to deliver President Obama's re-election in 2012. That is evangelization of the political kind!
We are so concerned about what kind of house we live in. We’re concerned if we can purchase the newest fashions. We’re worried about our jobs and our careers. We’re concerned about how much money we have in the bank and how much our checkbook balance is. We do spend a lot of time on “ME.” What’s going to happen to ME.
We worry about such things even though our Messiah said, “‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet Yahweh feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how Yahweh clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’” (Luke 12:22-35)
Why Do We Need an Evangelistic Stimulus Plan?
I would like to ask the question Yahweh first asked Cain way back in Genesis 4:9: “’Where is your brother…?’ ‘I don't know,’ [Cain] replied. ‘Am I my brother's keeper?’”
Cain later found out, He was responsible for his brother. When our Messiah reached out to the secular, nonobservant, publican, Zacchaeus, He was doing so in hopes to restore this Israelite back into the Kingdom.
“YahShua said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.’” (Luke 19:9, 10)
Ever since the separation in 1 King 15:34 where Israel split in two, Yahweh has been implementing His plan to restore the Kingdom. The Civil War that brought about the separation came from the evil mistrust between two brothers – Ephraim & Judah. The first time the word "Jews" appears in the Scriptures was when the King of Israel, allied with Syria and drove the “Jews” from the Red Sea port city of Elat (2 Kings 16:6-7).
This act of Israel brought about the prediction of Isaiah regarding the destruction of the Israelite and Syrian kingdoms by the Assyrians and the remedy for the division the Coming of Messiah: “Say to him, 'Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah. Aram, Ephraim and Remaliah's son have plotted your ruin, saying, "Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of TabeEl king over it." Yet this is what the Sovereign Yahweh says: 'It will not take place, it will not happen, for the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is only Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be too shattered to be a people. The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is only Remaliah's son. If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.' " Again Yahweh spoke to Ahaz, "Ask Yahweh your Elohim for a sign, whether in the deepest depths or in the highest heights." But Ahaz said, "I will not ask; I will not put Yahweh to the test." Then Isaiah said, "Hear now, you House of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of men? Will you try the patience of my Elohim also? Therefore the Sovereign himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right. But before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste. Yahweh will bring on you and on your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since Ephraim broke away from Judah—he will bring the king of Assyria." (Isaiah 7:4-17)”
The Virgin Birth was not about a flippant miracle to wow people into believing in the Messiah. Rather it was a sign that Yahweh would not utterly destroy Israel both Ephraim and Judah from off the face of the earth. At this ImmanuEl would restore the Kingdom once and for all. The belief of the Messiah’s Virgin Birth is an act of divine nationalism! To deny the Virgin Birth, is to deny Israel!
“All this took place to fulfill what Yahweh had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him ImmanuEl" —which means, "El with us." (Matthew 1:22, 23)”
So Yahweh removed Israel from the Promise Land and allowed Gentiles from five specific nations to divide the land and live on it in their place. The vacant country of Samaria was repopulated by colonists from five districts of the Assyrian empire and these colonists ultimately developed into the Samaritan nation (2 Kings 17:24). This is the deeper meaning of the story of the story of the “Woman At the Well.” The Woman is Lost Israel, who had “five husbands”. The woman said to Messiah YahShua, "Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. (John 4:20)" Messiah YahShua told her “You worship You know not what...” (John 4:22). Each one of those “five husbands” represents being “married” to the wrong “bridegroom” in false worship. “…salvation is from the Jews.”
Having abandoned the Sabbath, the Covenant sign marking Israel as Yahweh’s people, the Northern Tribes eventually lost their identification. That is why most Israelites do not know who they are to this day. Take this line of thought to its logical conclusion: failure to recognize who Israel is, is failure to recognize Yahweh who made Israel!
The Ten Northern Tribes went first, then the Two Southern Tribes in Judea along with Levi making up the “House of Judah” went into captivity to Babylon for seventy years. Yahweh promised that Babylon would become a waste and desolation after the seventy-year captivity of Judah, and that's exactly what happened. Persia, under Koresh (Cyrus), King of Persia, and the Medes conquered Babylon and it became the Medo-Persian Empire releasing the House of Judah of their captivity.
Only a small percentage of the Jews, less than 50,000, chose to return, “The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore, Beside their servants and their maids, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and there were among them two hundred singing men and singing women (Ezra 2:64, 65),” with the majority choosing to remain in Babylonia.
“The wealthiest and most influential of the Jews remained behind. According to Josephus, with whom Philo substantially agrees, vast numbers, estimated at millions, inhabited the Trans-Euphrates provinces”... “the great mass of the ten tribes was in the days of [Messiah], as in our own times, lost to the Hebrew nation.” (“The Life and Times of Jesus, the Messiah,” by Dr. Alfred Edersheim) Not lost that we do not know where to find them but lost in their identity and solidarity.
So, what happened to the rest of Israel and Judah? Where did they go? This was never the mystery for Messiah YahShua’s original evangelists.
We have been told by old belief systems that Messiah YahShua chose the Twelve Disciples, ordained them apostles, sent them to preach to the Jews, when they rejected that message, they turned to the Gentiles, replacing the Jews, but nothing could be further from the truth.
Rabbi Yakkov Ha Tzaddik, the brother of our Messiah and leader of the Messianic Movement of the Netzarim addressed his letter: “Yakkov, a servant of Yahweh and of King Messiah YahShua, to the twelve tribes scattered among the nations... (James 1:1)” This letter is not addressed to the Gentiles. It is not addressed exclusively to the Jews. It is addressed to all the Tribes of Israel!
Rabbi Kepha, one of our Messiah’s most trusted Disciples described himself as: “Kepha, an apostle of Messiah YahShua, (sent) to Yahweh's elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia" (1 Peter 1:1)” The word "strangers" used here does not mean Gentiles. The original Greek is παρεπίδημος "parepidemos". It means literally, "an alien alongside," or "a resident alien" translated from the Hebrew הַפְּזוּרִים הַגָּרִים “häpətzüriym hägäriym” meaning “the scattered strangers,” in other words the Diaspora (Dispersed Ones) living “throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia” He wrote this letter from Babylon, which at the time was under the rule of the Parthian Empire! Abraham, as you remember from Scripture, was a stranger, an alien, when he lived among the Canaanite Gentiles. Rabbi Kepha was addressing part of the lost ten tribes who dwelt among the Gentiles as aliens or strangers. Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia are all located in the northern half of Asia Minor in modern Turkey. These lands lay immediately west of the Parthian Empire!
Rabbi Sha’ul was chosen by Messiah to be His “chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. (Acts 9:15)” Rabbi Sha’ul spent his years in ministry in the southern, half of Asia Minor and Europe. "Yea, so have I strived to preach the Full Messianic Message, not where Messiah was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation" (Romans 15:20). Not preaching in the areas where Rabbi Kepha and others of the Disciples had carried the Full Messianic Message already. Remember, Rabbi Sha’ul was forbidden by the Spirit to preach in Bithynia. "After they (Rabbi Sha’ul and his companions) were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered [permitted] them not. And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas" (Acts 16:7, 8).
With Rabbi Sha’ul's arrival in Rome he went first seeking the Israelites: “[The Israelites at Rome] replied, "We have not received any letters from Judea (Jews) concerning you, and none of the brothers who have come from there has reported or said anything bad about you. But we want to hear what your views are, for we know that people everywhere are talking against this sect." They arranged to meet Rabbi Sha’ul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. From morning till evening he explained and declared to them the Kingdom of Yahweh and tried to convince them about YahShua from the Torah of Moses and from the Naviim (Prophets). (Acts 28:21-23)”
After Rome, Rabbi Sha’ul continued to preach the Full Messianic Message to the nations looking for “Lost Israel.” “Rabbi Sha’ul, full of the blessings of Messiah, and abounding in the Spirit, departed out of Rome, determining to go into Spain, for he had a long time proposed to journey thitherward, and was minded also to go from thence to Britain. For he had heard in Phoenicia that certain of the children of Israel, about the time of the Assyrian captivity, had escaped by sea to "The Isles afar off" as spoken be the Prophet [Ezra], and called by the Romans - Britain. And the King commanded the Full Messianic Message to be preached far hence to the Gentiles [nations], and to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. (Act 9:15, 22:21) And no man hindered Rabbi Sha’ul…(Acts 29:1-4)” Rabbi Sha’ul's commission, after he revealed Messiah to the kings and rulers at Rome, was to bear the name of King Messiah YahShua to the "children of Israel" (Acts 9: 15)
The Catholic Historian Eusebius, in his third book of "Evangelical Demonstrations", chapter 7, admitted that the apostles "passed over to those which are called the British Isles."
William Camden in his book “Remains of Britain” written in 1674 said: "The true Christian Religion (Messianic Faith) was planted here most anciently by Joseph of Arimathea, Simon Zelotes, Aristobulus, by St. Peter, and St. Paul, as may be proved by Dorotheus, Theodoretus and Sophronius." He said this in contention that the religion of the day had been hijacked by paganism.
Rabbi Andrew according to Cave's "Antiquitates Apostolicae" went into “Scythia and the neighboring countries primarily allotted him for his province. First then he travelled through Cappadocia, (Upper) Galatia and Bithynia, and instructed them in the faith of Messiah, passing all along the [Black Sea]... and so into the solitude of Scythia." Rabbi Andrew preached to the very area in Asia Minor which Rabbi Sha’ul had bypassed.
Rabbi Yakkov haKatan (James the Lesser) preached in Spain where he planted the [Faith]" (Cave's "Antiquitates Apostolicae").
Rabbi MattenYahu (Matthew) according to Metaphrastes: "went first into Parthia, and having successfully planted [the Messianic Faith] in those parts, thence travelled to Aethiopia, that is, the Asiatic Aethiopia, lying near India" slightly east of the area where the Assyrians settled the Israelite captives.
Rabbi Thomas journeyed into Northwest India to whom the Greeks called the "Nephthalite Huns."
Rabbi Bartholomew also spent part of his time in neighboring Armenia and a portion of Upper Phrygia in Asia Minor.
Rabbi YaHudah ministered in Assyria and Mesopotamia which at that time were part of Parthia which Josephus designated as still inhabited by the Ten Tribes.
Remember, Rabbi Yakkov HaTzaddik referred to Israel as “scattered among the nations” and that is exactly where we have found them.
Messiah YahShua told His disciples: “‘This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Torah of Moses (Law), the Naviim (Prophets) and the Katuvim (Psalms) – (the Tanack).’
Then He opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, ‘This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on High.’” (Luke 24:44-49)
What power is Messiah talking about? “…He gave them this command: ‘Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For Yochannan immersed with water, but in a few days you will be immersed with the Holy Spirit.’
So when they met together, they asked him, ‘Sovereign, are You at this time going to restore the Kingdom to Israel?"
He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’” (Acts 1:4-8)
The witnesses of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) was poured out on the Disciples – old and young; male and female – on Shavuot (Feast of Pentecost): “Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism Cretans and Arabs) —we hear them declaring the wonders of Yahweh in our own tongues!" Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?" (Acts 2:7-12)”
What was Rabbi Kepha’s response: “…this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 'In the last days, Yahweh says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of Yahweh. And everyone who calls on the name of Yahweh will be saved. (Joel 2:28-32)' Men of Israel, listen to this… (Acts 2:16-22)”
The Evangelistic Stimulus Plan - A Personal Instruction
“And YahShua came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father, by authority of the Son through the inspiration of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age. Amien.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
The Great Commission is one of the most significant passages in the sacred Scriptures. First, it's the last recorded personal instruction given by of the resurrected Messiah YahShua to His disciples. Second, it's a special calling from Messiah YahShua to all His followers to take specific action while on this earth to reach out to Lost Israel and bring them back to the Kingdom.
Although the command was initially given directly only to Messiah’s Eleven Apostles, the commission is a directive to all Believes, as extensions of the Eleven, of every time and place, particularly because it is a restatement or moving forward Yahweh’s covenant with Abraham in Genesis 12:3. “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be grafted in through you.” For Messiah gave these commands not just to the Eleven apostles but also to the 500 brethren mentioned by Rabbi Sha’ul in 1 Corinthians 15:6.
It interesting to note why Yahweh allowed the early Netzarim Movement to be persecuted: “At that time a great persecution arose against the Congregation which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.... Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word” (Acts 8:1, 4).
The prophet Amos is speaking of this in Amos 9:9 when he uses the metaphor of sifting grain to describe what Yahweh will do to regather Israel. Yahweh, Amos says, “will sift the House of Israel among all nations, as grain is sifted in a sieve; yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground.”
Our first line of instruction in the Great Commission is in the daily attendance of the local House of Study: “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)
This command from Messiah YahShua is significant because it's a personal instruction for Netzarim Believers to have a profound faith that Yahweh has put the authority to regather Israel on King Messiah YahShua as indicated in verse 18. “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” This is an incredibly powerful statement which demands faith in Messiah YahShua, validating His power in the lives of Believers and their commitment to Him as King and belief He is going to establish His Kingdom. This verse acts as a clear claim to King Messiah YahShua’s authority, and therefore His deity as the “Express Image” (Colossians 1:15) of Yahweh, He is the “sifter” of Israel. Yahweh is very clear about Messiah YahShua’s authority in the world -- it is complete and total from the beginning of time itself (John 1:1-3).
The scope of Messiah’s authority is indicated by the phrase “in heaven and on earth.” King Messiah YahShua has been given universal cosmic dominion following his ascension not only over the physical universe and everything in it but also over everything spiritual: the spirits of those who have died and all the heavenly hosts (angels and demons). “Messiah YahShua...has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of Yahweh, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him” (1 Peter 3:21-22). He is the “head of every man” (1 Corinthians 11:3) and the “head of all principality and power” (Colossians 2:10). And as such, He discharges His angels to assist us as “ministering spirits” in the accomplishment of the Great Commission. The fact that our Movement’s marching orders to assist in the regathering of Israel is based upon Messiah having all authority in heaven and on earth, should give us a great encouragement and optimism.
In verse 19, Messiah YahShua gives His Believers specific directions to follow after they have affirmed their faith. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father, by authority of the Son through the inspiration of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." Messiah YahShua calls all His followers to act and share the Full Messianic Message of the Kingdom throughout the world “sifting the House of Israel among all nations.” People hear this calling and travel each year on missionary trips throughout the earth, spreading the word of King Messiah YahShua. It was the very reason that I went to Australia and New Zealand – I believe in this message! Many Believers have made incredible sacrifices, traveling to remote regions of the world beyond the civilized cities into jungles and deserts. However, mission fields can also be very close to home. It could be a neighbor who has not heard the Full Messianic Message of the Kingdom, or a poverty stricken area just down the road where people can't afford a set of Scriptures nor see their need of them. In the 21st century, the Internet has become a mission field where people can reach out and share Yahweh’s love. The places and people who need to hear the Full Messianic Message of the Kingdom are everywhere!
Since King Messiah YahShua instructed the apostles to make disciples, one needs to define the word disciple. The ancient Greek term for disciple was μαθητής “mäthātā's” used to describe a pupil or apprentice of a scholar. Disciples were seekers of knowledge and wisdom. It is translated from the Hebrew word ים דֵּ מִ ל תְ “təlmidiym” meaning “a learner, pupil, or disciple” from the root דוּמל תְ “Təlmüd” meaning “to teach.” The use of the term Talmidim seems to imply that the student received instruction in the essentials of the teachings of Messiah - theTorah, which it was necessary to know and submit to, before they could receive immersion. This discipling process involved a close relationship with and dependence upon the teacher or Rabbi. “A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master.” (Matthew 10:24, 25) In our faith a disciple is a person who follows their teacher as he “follows Messiah” (1 Corinthians 11:1) and then spends the rest of his or her life “studying to show themselves approved”. (2 Timothy 2:15) Disciples must study Yahweh’s word and submit themselves to all the teachings of Messiah. Because King Messiah YahShua has delegated His authority to ordained teaching servants, part of being a disciple involves joining a congregation and submitting to the elders of that congregation. “Obey those who rule over you and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account” (Hebrews 13:17). Of course Believers are only to submit to elders when they teach what Messiah has commanded. When the elders of a particular congregation teach things contrary to Messiah’s law-word (e.g., liberalism, pop-psychology, feminism, antinomianism, , etc.) one must leave that congregation in order to be a faithful disciple. A disciple of King Messiah YahShua submits every area of life to the King. No area of life is excluded from His authority. “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22).
Why All Nations? Messiah YahShua could have instructed the apostles to disciple all individuals or all men, but instead He instructed them to disciple all nations. This is harkening back to the New Covenant promise in Deuteronomy 30:1-3: “When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come upon you and you take them to heart wherever Yahweh your Elohim disperses you among the nations, and when you and your children return to Yahweh your Elohim and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, then Yahweh your Elohim will restore your inheritance and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.”
The significance of Messiah’s choice of the word “nations,” rather than individuals or men is that the goal of the Great Commission is not we are to focus on a few individuals here and there are to be discipled but rather that we are to “sift the House of Israel among all nations” and they are to be brought under the subjection of King Messiah YahShua. Individuals and families are to be evangelized of every race and nation as we look for scattered Israel.
In verse 20, King Messiah YahShua provides specific direction with affirmation to His followers, “teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” Believers are instructed to teach others about the entirety of Torah. Messiah said “…lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age. Amien.” We can't profess Messiah YahShua as Savior, while rejecting Him as King by disclaiming certain of His teachings. As we teach King Messiah YahShua’s truths, verse 20 declares that we can be confident, in faith, that King Messiah YahShua will support us. This fact has proven trustworthy throughout the centuries as millions of Believers have heard, accepted and shared the Full Messianic Message of the Kingdom of King Messiah YahShua. Yes, Messiah YahShua has ascended back to heaven, but He is present by the power of the Holy Spirit in every obedient Believer! That’s how Rabbi Sha’ul could say: “At my first defense no one took my part, but all forsook me … but the King stood by me, and strengthened me” (2 Timothy 4:16, 17).
“These twelve YahShua sent out with the following instructions: ‘Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the Lost Sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: “The Kingdom of Heaven is near.” Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.
Whatever town or village you enter, search for some worthy person there and stay at his house until you leave. As you enter the home, give it your greeting (Shalom). If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it (Shalom Aleikhem); if it is not, let your peace return to you (Aleikhem Shalom). If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town. I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town. I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.’” (Matthew 10:5-16)
In the Great Commission, King Messiah YahShua calls every Netzarim Believer to step out in faith and spread the Full Messianic Message of the Kingdom.
“[Messiah YahShua] said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the Full Message to all creation. Whoever believes and is immersed will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.’” (Mark 16:15-18)
This is faith in action! Go! The command to “go” applies to all Believers without exception. People who obey this command change their spiritual lives forever! The Great Commission (which today is rejected, forgotten and ignored by some of Messianics) is that the command to “go” was given specifically to the ministers and laymen alike to, “preach the word” wherever they go, with no other license and ordination than that which is born of love to Messiah and zeal for His Kingdom! All Believers have a duty to be salt and light to their community (Matthew 5:13-16) and all Believers should witness to their neighbors (John 4:28, 29, 39; Acts 18:26).
You have been sent when Messiah said, “Go!” “How then shall they call on Him in who they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the full message of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things” (Romans 10:14-15).
On May 28, 2008 “McClatchy's Washington Bureau” reported that a Marine in Fallujah had outraged the city's residents by passing out coins that read, in Arabic, "Where will you spend eternity?" on one side, and "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16" on the other. The Marine was promptly removed. The military immediately began trying to pass this off as an "isolated incident." Maj. Gen. John Kelly, the commander of U.S. troops in western Iraq, has discussed the matter with local sheiks, who said they understand it is an isolated incident." Iraq is crawling with missionaries and evangelists, both civilian and military, who show little or no regard for laws or military regulations. Why? Because the "Great Commission" from Matthew 28:19 -- "Go and make disciples of all nations" -- trumps all man-made laws. The Great Commission must be fulfilled -- at any cost.
The Great Commission instructs us to make disciples while we are going throughout the world and while we are going about our daily activities. How are we to make disciples? By immersing them and teaching them all that King Messiah YahShua commanded so obviously study is required. “Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.” (1Timothy 3:6) Let the new Believer assist and observe the mature Believer in his presentation of the full Messianic Message of the Kingdom.
It could be spreading the Full Messianic Message of the Kingdom to a neighbor or moving to another country to reach the people there. It could be sharing with less fortunate kids down the street or spreading the Word in a town two hours away. Wherever we go, every faithful Believer is compelled through obedience to share the Full Messianic Message of the Kingdom. If you're a Believer in King Messiah YahShua, where has He called you to go? Who has Yahweh put on your heart to share the gift of the Kingdom? What small or large steps can you take, with the knowledge that King Messiah YahShua will be by your side, “to make disciples of all the nations” by “sifting the House of Israel among all nations” “to seek and to save what was lost”?
