Comment by zahav peretz on July 15, 2009 at 9:42am Shalom Rabbi Trimm, I have seen this quote in two ways, the one here:
The Scribes and the Pharisees tell you to listen to them
answer them like this:
"It is not strange if you follow your traditions since every tribe consults its own
idols. We must not, therefore, consult your dead [sages] about the living one."
and the one here:
http://www.wnae.org/nazauthority.htm
....which reads:
"The Scribes and the Pharisees tell you to listen to them; answer them like this: 'It is not strange if you follow your traditions since every tribe consults its own idols. We must not, therefore, consult your dead [sages] about the living ones.' "
Can you discern if the best understanding is "the living one" or "the living ones"?
blessings,
Wayne
