that was really interesting, i'll hopefully get around to trying it someday! i just started homeschooling my kids this year and one of the things i'm using is called celebrations of the bible/a messianic childrens curriculum. it gives lesson plans and activity ideas and copyable color and cut out pages for each age group.-21/2-kindergarten, grades 1-3, grades 4-6. i've only used it for the past couple festivals but its proved to be priceless. if anyones interested they can go to www.messianicjewish.net to order a copy.

Pharmacy in your kitchen

Before you run out the door to your local pharmacy, look in your kitchen cabinets for some quick and free solutions to common ailments.

Salt can soothe a sore throat if you mix it with warm water and gargle.

Honey can also coat a raw throat—mix it with a dash of cinnamon for even better results.

Tea bags can help de-puff swollen eyelids. Place cold tea bags on your eyelids and relax for a few minutes. Can also soothe a sunburn.

Vinegar can kill athlete’s foot bacteria, and also help dry, cracked skin.

Kitchen Problem-solving Solutions

1.To remove odor from plastic storage containers in which garlic and onion were stored, wash container
thoroughly, then place it in a crumpled piece of newspaper and snap on the lid. The smell will disappear in
a few days.

2. To test cornstarch for freshness, mix one tablespoon each of cornstarch and vinegar in a glass. The mixture will bubble if the cornstarch is fresh.

3. If you like to store loaves of bread in your freezer, tuck a paper towel in each bag before freezing. When you defrost a loaf, the towel will absorb excess
moisture, thereby preventing soggy bread.

4. Candles will last longer if you chill them thoroughly before burning them. They will burn slower and drip less.

5. If you cook with honey, dip your measuring cup in flour before measuring the honey. the flour
prevents the honey from sticking to your mesuring cup.

6. If your wood furniture has water spots or white rings, remove them with a dab of mayonaise. Wipe off residue. Repeat for tougher stains.

7. To repel ants, draw a heavy line of chalk on the floor or wherever ants march.

8. A lint roller can clean dusty lampshades!

9. To keep extension cords from getting tangled, insert then into an empty paper towel roll to store.

10. To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.

11. Did you add too much salt to your soup? Don't despair! Drop in a few peeled potatoes to absorb the
salt. Remove and discard the potatoes before serving the soup.

12. Spray plastic containers with non-stick cooking spray before pouring in tomato-based foods. This will prevent stains!

13. To keep plastic wrap from sticking to itself, store it in the freezer. When unwrapped it won't cling to itself and returns to room temperature in a matter of seconds.

The ants in the kitchen are coming in from outside. Buy some beneficial nematodes from a local nursery for your yard (about $20). These critters eat larva stage ants (and fleas also) but do not hurt people or pets or anything else. They are microscopic and should be kept in the refrigerater by nursery. Follow the directions to add then to water and sprinkle in the yard after watering well. Don't let the yard get completely dry or they will .
Also follow the trail of ants inside to see how they are getting in. Seal this with exterior caulk.

i just wanted to say thank you for creating this group.I'm a stay at home mom.I try to make things with my hands and sell them online.At the moment i have a website that I sell Dance Garments of Praise.Sometimes I feel a little left out because I do not have the stay at home mother thing in common with many of my brothers and sisters at congregation.It really is a big deal to me that you made a place for people like me to discuss matters of the home :)
