Recently aquired a fascinating new book(2012) by Daniel Boyarin entitled " The Jewish Gospels; The Story of The Jewish Christ". A very interesting read. He writes to demonstrate, among other things, that before the time of Constantine and Nicea, Judaism and Christianity were two views within the same religion. An interesting idea, is it not?
Now, don't throw stones at me, read it for yourselves. BTW, Boyarin is a jewish Rabbi, and a Talmudic scholar.

The earliest form of Christianity was another Jewish sect, like the Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, Zealots, etc.
