When people speak of the \u201crestoration of Nazarene Judaism,\u201d many assume we are reviving something long extinct. Church history paints the Nazarenes \u2014 Torah-observant Jews who followed Yeshua as Messiah \u2014 as a small sect that vanished in the fourth century, erased by Rome and rejected by the synagogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But history, as written by the victors, conceals more than it reveals. When we examine the sources \u2014 the writings of the early church fathers, Jewish records, medieval chronicles, Renaissance manuscripts, and even modern testimonies \u2014 a different picture emerges. The truth is that Nazarene Judaism never died. It has always existed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Beginning: Far From Rejection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The popular claim that \u201cthe Jews rejected Yeshua\u201d is simply false. The evidence shows that the first-century Jewish response to Yeshua was the opposite: they embraced him by the tens of thousands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gospel according to the Hebrews<\/em> records that at the crucifixion, when Yeshua prayed, \u201cFather, forgive them, for they know not what they do,\u201d many thousands of Jews standing around the execution site became believers<\/strong>. Medieval commentators preserved this tradition, noting that these converts correspond to the three thousand added at Pentecost (Acts 2:41) and the five thousand more shortly afterward (Acts 4:4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
