Was it merely a temporary measure until Messiah? Or is it, as the Tanak repeatedly declares, <em>for all generations forever<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let us be like the noble Bereans (Acts 17:11), and test all things in light of the Scriptures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcd6 Torah According to the Tanak<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Torah itself answers this question many times:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIt shall be a statute forever to their generations\u2026\u201d<br>\u2014 <em>Exodus 27:21<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever.\u201d<br>\u2014 <em>Exodus 31:17<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>And again:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cYou shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish a thing from it.\u201d<br>\u2014 <em>Deuteronomy 4:2<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cEvery one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.\u201d<br>\u2014 <em>Psalm 119:160<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In passage after passage, the Torah affirms its own <strong>eternal and unchanging<\/strong> nature. The idea that it would be abolished later simply <em>does not exist<\/em> in the Tanak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcdc What Did Yeshua Say?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Far from abolishing the Torah, Yeshua <strong>affirmed its permanence<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cDo not think that I have come to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I have not come to destroy but to fulfill&#8230; Till heaven and earth pass away, not one yud or one hook will pass from the Torah until all is fulfilled.\u201d<br>\u2014 <em>Matthew 5:17\u201318<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>He did not come to void the Torah, but to <strong>magnify it<\/strong> and reveal its full intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2721\ufe0f What Did the Early Nazarenes Believe?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The earliest followers of Yeshua \u2014 the Nazarenes \u2014 understood that the Torah and the Messiah were not in conflict. Church fathers like Epiphanius and Jerome (though hostile toward them) admit that the Nazarenes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Believed in Yeshua as the Messiah<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continued to observe the Torah<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read the Scriptures in Hebrew<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possessed a Hebrew Gospel of Matthew<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, the Nazarenes walked exactly as Revelation describes the end-time remnant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cHere is the perseverance of the holy ones: those who keep the commandments of Elohim and have the faith of Yeshua.\u201d<br>\u2014 <em>Revelation 14:12<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2694\ufe0f Truth vs. Torah-lessness<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a battle being waged in the spirit \u2014 a battle between <strong>truth and deception<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Psalm 119:142, <em>\u201cYour Torah is truth.\u201d<\/em><br>According to 1 John 3:4, <em>\u201cSin is transgression of the Torah.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what is the lie of the Adversary? It is <em>Torah-lessness<\/em> \u2014 the belief that YHWH\u2019s righteous standard no longer applies. Just today, I took her to a critical appointment with one of her specialists\u2014but we were <strong>turned away<\/strong> because her Medicare D coverage wasn\u2019t showing as active. They asked for <strong>$225 in cash<\/strong> to be seen, and we simply do not have it. They rescheduled her for next week, but unless we can raise that <strong>$225<\/strong>, she still won\u2019t receive the care she needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And tomorrow\u2014<strong>July 15th<\/strong>\u2014marks our <strong>35th wedding anniversary<\/strong>. I would love nothing more than to give my wife a bit of relief, a reason to smile, and a day free of financial stress.
