Yet its foundational assumptions are foreign to both the Hebrew Scriptures and the teachings of the original followers of Yeshua. Nazarene Judaism\u2014rooted in the Torah, the Prophets, and the faith once delivered to the set-apart ones (Jude 1:3)\u2014rejects Dispensationalism in its entirety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dispensationalism rests on <strong>three interdependent pillars<\/strong>, like a three-legged stool:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Torah (Law) is not for today.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is a permanent dichotomy between Israel and the Church.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The righteous will escape the Great Tribulation in a Pre-Trib Rapture.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If one leg is broken, the entire stool collapses. Nazarene Judaism exposes the flaws in all three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is Dispensationalism?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dispensationalism was developed in the 1830s by John Nelson Darby and later popularized by the Scofield Reference Bible. It divides human history into distinct \u201cdispensations,\u201d in which God allegedly relates to humanity in different ways. Most significant for our discussion, Dispensationalism teaches:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Torah was only for ancient Israel and has been set aside.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Church is a new, separate body that replaces or is forever distinct from Israel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Church will be raptured before a future seven-year Tribulation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These teachings are not found in the Bible, and certainly not in the teachings of Yeshua or the original Emissaries. They arise from an alien hermeneutic rooted in 19th-century Christian eschatology\u2014not in the ancient faith of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pillar 1: The Law Is Not for Today?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dispensationalists claim that believers in Yeshua are no longer under the Torah. This contradicts the plain words of Yeshua:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cDo not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill\u2026 until heaven and earth pass away, not one yod or stroke shall pass from the Torah until all comes to pass.\u201d (Matt. 5:17\u201318)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In <em>Returning to the Way<\/em>, I document how Yeshua and His followers\u2014including Paul\u2014remained Torah observant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paul kept the Feasts (Acts 20:6, 16)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He kept the Sabbath and taught in synagogues on that day (Acts 17:2; 18:4)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He underwent Nazarite purification at the Temple (Acts 21:24\u201326)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He said, \u201cI believe all things written in the Torah and the Prophets\u201d (Acts 24:14)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul warned against those who taught that grace nullifies Torah:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cDo we then nullify the Torah through trust? Elohim forbid! We establish the Torah.\u201d (Rom. 3:31)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The Torah is not abolished; it remains the eternal standard of righteousness and the constitution of the Kingdom of Elohim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more on this see my blog: <a href=\"https:\/\/nazarenespace.com\/blog\/2021\/10\/31\/for-all-of-your-generations-forever\/\">https:\/\/nazarenespace.com\/blog\/2021\/10\/31\/for-all-of-your-generations-forever\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pillar 2: A Church\/Israel Dichotomy?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dispensationalism separates \u201cthe Church\u201d from Israel, claiming two distinct peoples of God. This false dichotomy leads some to Replacement Theology, while others cling to the illusion of a \u201cGentile Church\u201d with a separate mission and destiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Scripture reveals <strong>only one people of God<\/strong>\u2014the commonwealth of Israel\u2014with both native-born and grafted-in members:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cYou were at that time without Messiah, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise\u2026 But now, in Messiah Yeshua, you who once were far off have been brought near.\u201d (Eph. 2:12\u201313)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Gentiles do not form a new Church\u2014they are <strong>grafted into<\/strong> the existing remnant of Israel (Rom. 11:17\u201324). Paul compares this union to marriage:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIf the root is holy, so are the branches\u2026 You do not support the root, the root supports you.\u201d (Rom. 11:16,18)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeshua came only for the \u201clost sheep of the House of Israel\u201d (Matt. 15:24). His mission was to restore and renew Israel, not to replace her with a new entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The so-called \u201cChurch\u201d in the Apostolic Writings is simply the <strong>assembly (qahal\/ekklesia)<\/strong> of believers\u2014native Israelites and grafted-in sojourners alike\u2014united in Torah observance and faith in Messiah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <em>Nazarene Theology<\/em>, I demonstrate that Yeshua\u2019s followers considered themselves a <strong>sect of Judaism<\/strong> (Acts 24:5,14; 28:22). They did not see themselves as a \u201cnew religion,\u201d and certainly not as a replacement for Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more on this see my blog here: <a href=\"https:\/\/nazarenespace.com\/blog\/2020\/03\/26\/what-do-you-mean-church\/\">https:\/\/nazarenespace.com\/blog\/2020\/03\/26\/what-do-you-mean-church\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pillar 3: The Pre-Trib Rapture?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dispensationalists teach that the \u201cChurch\u201d will be raptured to heaven before the Tribulation, leaving Israel behind. But the Pre-Trib Rapture is a <strong>modern invention<\/strong>, first appearing in the 1830s via Darby and a vision reported by Margaret MacDonald.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeshua taught the exact opposite:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cImmediately after the tribulation\u2026 they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven\u2026 and He will send His angels\u2026 and they will gather His elect.\u201d (Matt. 24:29\u201331)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;elect&#8221; are not evacuated before the Tribulation\u2014they endure it, as Daniel and Revelation both show. The promise is not <strong>escape<\/strong>, but <strong>protection<\/strong> and <strong>endurance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul\u2019s famous \u201crapture\u201d verse in 1 Thess. 4:16\u201317 speaks of the resurrection at Yeshua\u2019s return\u2014not of a secret disappearance. As shown in <em>Returning to the Way<\/em>, early believers expected a <strong>post-tribulation resurrection<\/strong>, consistent with Daniel 12:1\u20132.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is not a single verse in all of Scripture that clearly teaches a Pre-Trib Rapture. Together, they form a theological system that is entirely <strong>incompatible with Nazarene Judaism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Torah stands<\/strong>\u2014and it is for all who are part of Israel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>There is one people of Elohim<\/strong>\u2014Israel, with no separate \u201cChurch.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>There is one return of Messiah<\/strong>\u2014at the end of the age, not before the Tribulation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These three truths destroy the foundation of Dispensationalism and call believers to <strong>return to the faith once delivered<\/strong>\u2014a Torah-observant faith centered on Yeshua the Messiah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support the Restoration of Nazarene Judaism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If this blog has blessed you, informed you, or challenged you to rethink tradition in favor of truth, please consider supporting this work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am committed to restoring Nazarene Judaism\u2014the original, Torah-rooted faith of Yeshua and His Emissaries.
